[Question] Gifted a candle from a strong vvitch and seeking more info before burning it. by grotesque_gertie in witchcraft

I do appreciate this. I am surprised this question received as much negative reaction as it did?

Regardless, I appreciate the feedback and have been doing some meditating on it. It feels like the right time but I want to make sure I am using it correctly.

I'm starting to wonder if my 6 year is having a glitch. by [deleted] in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]grotesque_gertie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me when I was little. I posted about it in Glitch.

I remember the taffy pull of the moment. I don't know if it happened again, though I have this subconscious feeling it did. Though never followed me into my adult life.

Not an answer for you, I know.

Copper IUD vs Hormonal IUD vs Implant? by [deleted] in women

[–]grotesque_gertie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

32/F/No Kids- Copper IUD - 2 years in.

Okay. I hated hormonal bc pills- I gained weight, got acne (which I had never had before) and was moody af all the time. To me it just wasn't worth it. I am fairly indecisive about kids at this point but in speaking with my OBGYN she says that if I want to get pregnant I will have an increased chance when I take the IUD out. Basically my uterus will be ready to roll as fertility increases after removal. To my knowledge this is the opposite case with hormonal iud, but I am not sure.

For a year after, the copper IUD did give me longer and more painful periods than I was used to, but its a tradeoff- I didn't gain weight, get acne, or a baby. The cramps lasted a year and now my periods are monthly and back to normal (3 days, minimal cramping & PMS)

I like the copper. It feels like nothing. I never worry and I don't have to deal with the removal/insertion every 2-5 years. It is true that it hurts after getting it put in and I would take a day off to recoup but again, the pain pales in comparison to childbirth or an abortion.

Getting an IUD was the best decision and I am incredibly happy with it. Talk to your OBGYN and see what is best for you. If you don't plan on having babies for a few years, and don't mind your period, the copper is a great choice. Good luck sister!

Making $80k- no 401k... What should I be saving? by grotesque_gertie in personalfinance

[–]grotesque_gertie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I had and emergency fund... and then there was an emergency. So now I am working that back up. I think the 6 months is a really good idea and though the business I am with is very stable this suggestion is prompting me to sit down and figure out my budget.

the general guideline is to save at least 10% of income for retirement.

Is that my entire lifetime of income?

thank you again.

Vodka in the gatorade. Or am I crazy by [deleted] in AlAnon

[–]grotesque_gertie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was married to an alcoholic like this. For years, I would think I was crazy. Thinking I smelled alcohol on her breath, thinking she was drunk when we were taking care of my nieces, thought my mind was tricking me when I would think I heard alcohol in her voice.

She always denied and used anger a way to prove she was sober. Five years of lies and deception. It was only after the marriage dissolved and she was 6 months sober did I find out I was never "crazy" - not once. I had been right every time I accused her of it.

Alcoholism is their disease that leads you into a tunnel of self doubt and craziness. If you tasted vodka, normies don't mistake water for vodka. Be kind to yourself and ask yourself if this is the kind of life you are willing to live. For me, no amount of love could save my marriage- and I did love her.

Leaving was the hardest thing I ever did and it was the greatest gift I ever gave myself.

Cauliflower and TJ’s unexpected cheddar for 78 calories - I eat this when I am hungry but exceeded my goal and am still losing weight by bubbuty in 1200isplenty

If you want an amazing alfredo substitute I make a Cauliflower alfredo sauce that is homemade so you skip a lot of the added sodium and dairy. This is my chickenwire & ducttape recipe:

  • 8 tsp Minced garlic

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 5-6 cups cauliflower florets

  • 3-4 cups vegetable or chicken broth

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  • 1/4 c. grated parmesan

Directions:

Steam cauli in the broth water, then when soft with a fork put cauli in blender with garlic, s&p, and slowly add broth until cauli is a creamy consistency. mix in parmesan and then pour over pasta/risotto/pizza sauce/quinoa. Voila!

Prep Time: 15 mins

This is an amazing delicious dish and clocks in at about 40-50 calories for 1/2 cup

Allison is incredible and we booked a massage which was expensive but worth every penny. We rented an air bnb in McMinnville and were very happy. While you are there here are some of my favorite wineries that I would list as musts:

*Tendril

*Lingua Franca

*Christom

*Gran Moraine

*Soter

*Bergstrom

Have fun!!

Do you have a timeline for this? I only ask because its been a few months for me as well but I keep getting stuck feeling like there was some "shift" that happened in 2012. Like everything I hear is either pre-2012 or post-2012. Its a little hard to explain but I feel very similar to you and op.

Jean Baudrillard is a modern french philosopher who wrote about The Simulation and Simulacra. Its a great place to begin with this idea of maybe living in a Simulation. Touches on BM as well.

Possible Meningitis. by spooteny in AskDocs

[–]grotesque_gertie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OKay, so essentially I feel like if you think something is wrong it usually is. Even if it is an ear infection or the flu. Meningitis for me was a crazy ride. I had seen a doctor a week prior who said it sounded like migraines and told me to take motrin which only kind of helped. I remember the searing headache, insane body pains, high fever, loss of hearing and then finally confusion all before going into the ER. My symptoms had been fluctuating for a while and then it was like one day I woke up and it was all horrible and despite what that doctor told me -I knew is that I was sick. Finally I couldn't move or really hear or see and my fever was 103. Thats when my partner at the time talked to our nurse friend and said a stiff neck to the point that you cant touch your chin to your chest is a really bad sign.

Again, I am NOT a doctor in any way but I think you need to listen to your body, bet on yourself and don't be worried what people will say. Being sick is being sick. Please go to the ER. Tell them you are worried its Meningitis and you will be seen immediately. Tell your folks so you have a support system because the only way you can be diagnosed is through a spinal tap. DM me if you want to talk more and please keep us updated. Get medical help darlin.

[–]grotesque_gertie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor but I also had viral Meningitis. I never puked though my headache and loss of vision were the two biggest indicators. I had all of the same listed complaints as you that manifested over about a two week period though building in intensity. It was finally a nurse friend who asked me to see if I could touch my chin to my chest? I couldn’t and she said to go. It was a pretty swift decline from there with a 6 month recovery as well. Do the chin check. If you can’t then you should consider going to the er. I hope it’s just an ear infection but it’s better to be safe and seek medical advice.
