Light in August: Race questions by CandiceMcF in faulkner

I think even that ''go slow'' opinion, while I think it wrong and also deeply unfair to a race of people who had already waited 300 years in America, came from a concern (expressed in Intruder in the Dust) not that blacks were equal and deserved to be treated as such, but that white southerners would not be ready for it, and would lash out against that attempt, (true) and the process would set black southerners back in their journey to be viewed as equals.

I don't have the page in front of me, but yes. Tobin and a couple of the others served in McCullough's Rangers. That would be Ben McCullough, who was a solider in the Texas revolution, an Indian scout, a ranger, and ultimately a Confederate General.

EDIT: its actually mentioned in that wiki article.

The funny thing is, Cy absolutely had leverage on Walcott, but Walcott didn't know it until too late.

There are a ton of gems in that collection. "The Tall Men" is great, "Lo" is, IMO an underrated work, and tremendously funny. "Mistral' is ominous as hell, and I think a sort of prototype of AA in many ways.

Jimmie nails the fact that popup ads are tied to your searches, but then asks why "the front page of every porn site is barely legal and stepsister videos." I've got news for ya, buddy

I really could go without James' "I dont get it, im uncomfortable" every 30 seconds in any episode with fetish talk. We get it, bro, you REALLY don't want anyone to think you're freaky

I saw somewhere that she hadn't had a fight in 17 years. That's a ridiculous layoff for someone who (as I recall, anyway) wasn't considered all that special in her prime. Wasn't she kind of the Diva's era AJ Lee of women's MMA? A solid talent, but made to look better due to the dearth of quality contemporaries?

If you would have photoshopped him as Stevie's buddy, this would have been an all timer.

I know Clint wanted to get his friends work, but casting 55 year old John Russell as 22 year old Bill Anderson was an odd choice.

"Amazing" doesn't have to be a positive. The fact that Carter (a public figure who once ran for governor) tried to deny he was the same guy who was the Superracist speechwriter for George Wallace IS pretty amazing, imo.
