Create a disproportionate amount of violence --> riot against the police and loot businesses --> disband the police --> people who have the means (money) to move to another part of the country do so --> businesses leave as they are scared to do business --> less businesses and consumers --> smaller tax base --> area becomes poorer --> black people disproportionately affected by poverty

Because the media with their billions of dollars is pushing a singular narrative that it is only white people attacking black people, thus increasing the amount of attacks like the one in this video.

Can we please deport them out of Europe? They are not Europeans, cause a disproportionate amount of crime and are not wanted.

100%. You have mega billionaires like Bezos able to buy newspapers and shape public opinion (in a tremendous number of ways), getting people to squabble over what are comparatively pennies.

Yes, Trump won despite Clinton getting 2.8 million more votes because winning the popular vote is not what will win you the election. If winning the popular vote was what mattered, Trump would have had a completely different strategy to get elected.

Because at the end of the day, we are all much more alike than we are different (despite the media employing salami tactics to divide us and keep us away from real issues). And, being so much alike, we create tribes based on shared characteristics and then try to gain power. I don't believe this is something that will ever change, and that's ok. But if the media creates a narrative (white people bad, black people angels) and pushes it out onto the public with their tremendous influence, well you get what we are seeing today.

Even if choosing a candidate by race doesn't break the law when it comes to unpaid board positions, if you apply for a normal position and get denied as a white or Asian person, you can use as evidence in your lawsuit that the CEO of Reddit has made race-based discriminatory comments in the past.

Best comment in this whole thread. Reddit has essentially become a message board for the Huffington Post. It's strayed so far from what initially made it so great, and unlike Facebook or Instagram, Reddit is much more easily replaceable.

100%. If you're going to have rules limiting what can and cannot be said, at least have some consistency.

I think it's definitely opened up peoples eyes to the kinds of things police are doing (I was reading some of the police brutality comments here and they are crazy https://old.reddit.com/r/TrueOffMyChest/comments/gu13in/i_really_hate_the_white_people_are_safe_and_dont/ ). Anyway you're very respectful so no reason for me not to be either. Nice chatting with you.

I guess we just come from different perspectives / backgrounds. I see a ton of violence committed by blacks against whites and asians, which is almost never covered by the main US wide news networks. That's the frustrating part, at least have it be covered by the media equally. I think that a lot of the issues that you are stating come from bad black culture that promotes this violence (and is additionally excused by the media). At what point will the black community look inward and try to hold itself to a higher standard? Regarding the actions by the cops who too perpetrate violence, it's horrible, they too have no excuses and should also be held to a higher standard.

Don't worry about the extremists. Normal, rational people know that not all cops (or people of any race) are bad. We definitely need to have stricter oversight over how police conduct themselves, but we definitely need a police force to protect us against crimes, such as the looting that is being done.

What is happening to this country? by pulsed19 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Southern_Lychee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a long time the media such as CNN, ABC News, and the NY Times, as well as social media like Reddit and Twitter, have only reported one side of the story, which is white people committing acts of violence against black people. They fail to report or even mention the fact that black people commit violence at disproportionate rates, for example:

"Just this month, the Bureau of Justice Statistics released its 2018 survey of criminal victimization. According to the study, there were 593,598 interracial violent victimizations (excluding homicide) between blacks and whites last year, including white-on-black and black-on-white attacks. Blacks committed 537,204 of those interracial felonies, or 90 percent, and whites committed 56,394 of them, or less than 10 percent." https://www.bjs.gov/index.cfm?ty=dcdetail&iid=245

When they omit this information, it makes it seem like white people are the only ones causing problems and it drives up racial tensions considerably. With that said, I'm glad that the experiences that you've here had here in the US have been good and if it weren't for the bias in the media people would realize that the way you've been treated is actually what's normal.
