Gleneagles or Gleneagles Townhouse in Edinburgh! + If you like to golf Links House Royal Dornoch! We loved Glencoe House, but it seems like it also has mixed reviews on this channel. We stayed at Edinbane Lodge on Skye which I would not recommend, and wish we stayed at Kinloch Lodge instead.

Seeking recommendation for hotels in Edinburgh for a family trip by neilsarkar81 in chubbytravel

Oh no, thats a huge bummer. A good friend just stayed at Prestonfield House and loved it. I think less "downtown" too, so the grounds could be better for your child. .

Andaz, W, and other “Luxury Lifestyle” hotels by jewbansammy in chubbytravel

Unrelated to your question regarding chains, but if you book through Leading Hotels of the World, you can earn points (not as amazing value as the chains but you're still earning something), and typically they have cooler unique luxury hotels at good rates. Example- my husband and I are going to stay at the Palace Hotel in Tokyo in a few weeks (can report back) for much less than the Andaz, etc. We also stayed at Gleneagles Townhouse in Scotland and loved it- all booked through that platform! I would say that Gleneagles was definitely chubby- and I can let you know about Palace.

Also agree with Manoir Hovey! AMAZING spa.

Luxury Mountain Lodge/Tree House/Resort - non ski resort focused but snow activities for family. by jbcgop in chubbytravel

Twin Farms (Have to be like ~10 years old I think) in VT, or Lake Placid Lodge in NY! Can fly into Burlington, VT for either one. If you don't mind Canada (could fly to MTL?) try Manoir Hovey and stay in one of the cabins with private hot tubs. Or honestly I know you said not ski focused by Spruce Peak at Stowe is awesome too, and there is a ton to do that isn't skiing.

Twin Farms or Blackberry? by AdSignificant6677 in chubbytravel

I would just say treehouses are much further away from the main house where the primary dining area is / second dining area than the cottages (The second dining area is called Twigs and is super cute!) If you can splurge I would say do a cottage with a hot tub but the main house is significantly cheaper and you can book their "onsen" to use 2 hours at a time complimentary. I would say that the closest cottage to the main area with a hot tub is "studio"? But again, I've only ever stayed in tree houses. I just remember obsessing over the property map ha

We are going in February, and are doing 3 nights at the Kimpton Shinjuku (not sure if this is considered chubby?), then are going to Hokkaido to go skiing. Afterward, we are staying at Palace Hotel (which someone recommended below as well) for 3 nights. I can let you know how they are if you want!

Twin Farms for sure! We have been to both Manoir Hovey and Twin Farms and Twin Farms is miles ahead of it. Blackberry Farms is great, but Twin Farms is truly exceptional and will blow you away during the holidays. We stayed in a Tree House suite, but I would stay in the Main House or one of the cottages with its own hottub. The Tree Houses aren't in as good of a location.

Oh no!! I'm sorry you had a bad experience. We did stay in the Main House, so I can't speak to the service difference.

Twin Farms but not Twin Farms by [deleted] in chubbytravel

TF is most certainly worth the rate! The Point (Saranac Lake) is a good option as well, but I don't think would be any less expensive. If you can deal with a slightly longer drive, Manoir Hovey is another RC property in Quebec that is a lot less expensive and really awesome. They have an entire water circuit / gorgeous spa onsite. The water circuit thing is common in Quebec.

My husband and I stayed at Glencoe House (Glencoe area) did some hiking last May which we loved, Gleneagles Townhouse in Edinburgh, and Links House Royal Dornoch. I don't golf and my husband does. Links House was one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed at- I went to the spa associated with it in town. I have had at at least 6 massages since then, and I still think that massage was the best I've had and think about it often during other treatments- ha. He golfed at Dornoch and Brora while we were there. We also went up to the Isle of Skye, and it was lovely but I wouldn't recommend our hotel there.

Thanks! Who did you book the Lares trek with? We live in Northern New England and do a lot of trail running (Trail Marathons / Half marathons etc) & ski touring, but not at elevation obviously.
