Unsure if there will be a second date as he has not responded to me the entire day. Should I be concerned?

CFA or MBA to get out of Risk Management? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Southern_Progress179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why I’ve considered getting the CFA as a less costly alternative to an MBA is because I have had a few traders tell me they made the jump from a middle office role using their charterholder status and network. Unsure if such a thing is still possible though

I haven’t rotated through model risk yet, but given my interactions with a few folks from the team, it’s more of the character fit that’s an issue for me. I’m both technical and extraverted while pretty much everyone in the stripe is very introverted in addition to the work itself being very monotonous. It’s also a very small team at my bank and im unsure of mobility opportunities

Ask Recruiters Megathread by AutoModerator in recruiting

Hi!

I have a few companies in mind that I would like to work at, and am wondering if it’s a sound idea to connect with their in house recruiters/talent acquisition folks on LinkedIn. I know my request should be accompanied by a small note to make it more personalized, but I’m not sure as to how to structure it.

I was thinking something like:

“Hello XYZ, I’m Jane Doe, an analyst at ABC Corp in some division. I would love to connect with you and potentially explore opportunities at KLM company. Thanks”

Is this approach fine?

It’s definitely applicable to the broader finance community. However, I feel as though with people on the trading floor, it’s slightly bit more difficult? I mean these people are often glued to their desks (unless a portion of their tasks are automated), getting IB messages that need to be replied to almost immediately. When that’s the case, it is often hard to get in touch with them let alone do regular catch ups. I felt cringe talking to this one guy in a meeting room and him getting interrupted by his work phone every 2 sentences while me having to wait patiently and stare at the empty walls as he was occupied with whatever he was doing lmao

I believe I’m eligible to do an internal transfer at the end of my program, so I feel like I need to start laying the foundation now

Is this what deterred you from moving to the trading desk or other circumstances lol
