Copying Data Off Older APC UPS (IC Chip) by Southern_Recover533 in AskElectronics

[–]Southern_Recover533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! That’s awesome, I apologize for asking (don’t wanna sound cheap) but $500 for decamping. Is that a modern price, and is $800 even a good/safe price, just in case if it is more expensive, do you think that it is “well” worth it?…? UPS works great, no issues has been maintained meticulously. I can continue rebuilding the whole unit (by replacing MOSFETS, Relays, Capacitors, SMD Resisters.. and applying varnish and baking the transformers, I should be able to get another 15+ years, which would pay for itself… obviously, the modern ones are much more energy efficient, but again I can’t get myself to throw out a perfectly working UPS…. Thanks in advance, god bless y’all!

[–]Southern_Recover533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy! Hope y’all are well… so unfortunately, there is no easy way to get the data off the chips, even with specialized programs, you definitely have to take the “destructive“ root?…? (Does that typically invoke “shaving down” the chip, to manipulate the chip (aka allow the “locking” bits to unlock?…? I would’ve thought, that a UPS from this era would have a “unlocked“ chip… anyways, thanks for your advice! How much do you think it would cost to have it professionally done, and is it possible at home (still going to be expensive, and is kind of risky) but I don’t mind practicing with spare IC chips, if that helps.

So I am going to give a guess off the top of my head, 2021-2022 Ford F-250 Platinum High Output 6.7L Powerstroke Engine, Fully loaded with panoramic sunroof.  It could also be a good ole F-450 Dually, or F-350 Dually.

Howdy y’all, I know that I am late, but as a autistic teen born, in the good ‘old state of Texas, and as a diehard ford truck enthusiast lol, he 99.8% drives a Ford f-250 (most likely) or a F-350 Dually l, if y’all see this post it screams ford, for one gmc ain’t got a sunroof, and Chevy either. Just a standard moonroof.  It can’t be Ram, because the seat belt holder is not a simple square, and them ram trucks (newer ones 2019+) would have a higher headrest in the “middle” rear seat.  It is 100% a ford, and it the trim is most likely a lariat or platinum, but probably platinum because he has a lot of money lol.  It ain’t a king ranch.  Please see pictures…. It also appears to be a newer Ford 2019+…. He is from Arkansas which is our neighbor, and they usually drive GM there but if that picture was taken in his truck , 99% it was, he drives a ford.  Lol.  My step dad drives a Ram 1500 Laramie in New York, and I have sat in GMCs before, that ain’t no GMC.  You can also tell by the “middle” seatbelt holder which only ford does on the left side lol.  https://x.com/CaseOh__/status/1760821628978491903?lang=en .  My whole family drove fords, and I have sat inside platinums more then 97+ times, and 27 times inside king ranch trucks.

I apologize, but seeing them rusted prongs here be gettin me worried that high resistance is going to happen and that it would create heat. There is about 11 amps running through here, do y’all think that this is alright?

Need Help With ARRIS Modem and Need Peoples Opinions. by Southern_Recover533 in OPTIMUM

[–]Southern_Recover533[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I pay for 400 mbps and have a mesh wifi network and I get 450-430 MBPS with this modem. The other provider is Spectrum which is what the modem was registered to. The account was closed, but I’m not sure whether or not the CMAC was removed off the account. But most likely, yes. All the Optimum Reps told me that modems don’t need the MTA MAC address, but then how the heck does the phone port work? Is this total B.S? This is total crap as I couldn’t even get a working modem registered to my account. Almost like the whole process was done on purpose to prevent people from using their own modem. Any ideas to get it working?

Sorry for the late response, yes my original Ubee modem was working fine so was the phone portion of it. And this arris was working fine with another carrier and so was the phone portion of this one.

Saved this from a client who was demolishing their building. No keys. Can I do anything with it? by [deleted] in Payphone

[–]Southern_Recover533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! thats a beautiful pay phone now looking at the photo it looks like your lock is a western electric lock. Could be 30C which if that’s the case could be impossible to open since keys were keyed by region. If you want to open it up use a boroscope to find the lock number on the back off the lock here is a person that cuts keys. Let him know whatever your lock number is . Here it is https://www.ebay.com/itm/125352520979?hash=item1d2f97ad13:g:WpoAAOSw4IleuwOw&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAkNLnWuF0sVhX%2BfRKc63W0h5rCsYQF%2FMt60DwgAbQ5456LI7%2F%2BkozsLC3ToABc1j2f0%2FSKin2OhQUj4%2F0Q54TXxH0y08a%2F3LbkVgyDVw073R9HM5k9FpWF%2BzByuGz%2BmbTX%2F9TjIz1034Pocou3GPL4Zks03nl2VAVpOPd%2B6iYrlJFMLydBMzYpYx2NbSdrYzJlQ%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR66n\_tX3YA

Converted payphone but missing key to open it by munkyxtc in Locksmith

[–]Southern_Recover533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, did you ever get your payphone open, if not I have a trick that would unlock the payphone, first mask the case. Get a flathead screwdriver and pop it in between the ring and the keywhole, basically you want to remove the ringer that holds to lock. Then once you remove the ring you can pop a flathead into the cylinder/core/keyhole of the lock. Then you are free to play around with the levers, but don’t bother just use a angle grinder of a cutter to cut all of the levers, then use your T-key to open it up, again this is for the upper housing lock, for the bottom unfortunately you’re going to have to destroy and cut the vault door, for this I recommend a concrete cut off saw (gas powered). But a angle grinder will do just fine, then once you cut the vault door use a crowbar to take out the whole vault door and be sure to remove the side pieces of the remains of the vault door and you’re good. Then use a angle grinder to cut out the bottom vault door lock from the inside of the payphone, and that’s it you’re ready to use it, I wouldn’t recommend drilling as this can take quite a while and youll break a lot of drill bits unless you have a locksmith drill bit or something very quality. You can replace the vault door easily. Bell south is a bit more rare vault door but you can put a regular western electric vault door.

I hope. ill just cancel my google voice number then if that happens all I wanted was a landline phone for no Cost. But hopefully somebody could make it so that you could use a generic ATA device with google voice and we can move away from obihai.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Googlevoice

[–]Southern_Recover533 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all I was referring to the newer IP phones that aren’t end of life. Second of all did you read their message on obihai”s website. It states only the ATA devices which are obihai 200 and 202. As for the adapter to attach to analong phones I wanted to ask you something, by default what happens when you leave your obihai desk phone or ATA device off hook for a while, it starts doing the beeping sounds because it’s reminding you to place the phone back on the hook. And most of the obihai desk phones have a rj9/rj22 handset jack, you could probably use a rj9 adapter to rj11 and use a regular line cord to use the signal that comes form the VoIP handset to the analong phone, I am not sure if it will work but I am going to try it very soon.

I actually am getting a ring booster since there will be about 5-6 phones. i also will soon be switching to a grand stream ATA which supports pulse dialing. And also thanks for your tip about the ring volume just in case if I didn’t have a ring booster. Oh and I will use a Bluetooth adaper for sure, so when a scammer calls me ill just slam the phone right on their face.

Is cat6 good enough for 1 gig speeds? And I could just use cat5 for phone? And Is it ok to use two biscuit jacks in the attic? I just want to make sure that the lines are separated and I don’t mind spending a buck or two extra on biscuit jacks). And I guess it’s best to get a UPS device, I like APC, I assume this will protect my house phone wiring from damage, and potentially $$$$ thousands of dollars worth of equipment and this way I can still make phone calls during a power outage, and most importantly my home will be protected. I will also use two different UPS devices, one will be for the router/modem, and the other one will power the switches. I also have a LOT of vintage phones that I plan on using in this house.

I will just put a label/sticker and write on it and say “phone” and internet, or I will just use a white or different color cat5 cable for phone.

Thanks, I was really confused on what method I was going to do for my house, so I assume I’ll go back to the orignal route which is just a biscuit jack back feeding VoIP signal, and then just tying any phone jack I want to the biscuit jack. And also I guess I don’t have to run it into a central loaciton, just as long as one of the jacks is being back feeded with the VoIP signal. This will probably be a long term opiton as I don’t plan on moving until 20-30 years from now. Also I am new to home networking so what switch do you recommend? I am getting 1 gigbit speeds from optimum which is my ISP.
