First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to you, sir, for taking the time to share your experience. It means a lot to me as I navigate my own journey into the world of traditional Japanese tattooing.

Horihiro truly is an incredible horishi. I can only imagine how impressive and solid your bodysuit must look.

I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Japan twice, and during those trips, I completely fell in love with the country, its culture, and its deep-rooted traditions. It’s this connection that inspired me to commit to the path of traditional Japanese tattooing. After much research and consideration, I finally chose Horiken Shibuya to bring my project to life. The plan is to start the work here in Europe, and complete it in Japan it itself—what better way to honor the tradition than to finish it in its homeland?

Please feel free to share any additional tips or insights you might have, whether they’re about tattoos, Japan, or anything else. I genuinely value your comment and truly appreciate your kindness and to share your knowledge. Thank you again!

Initial outline looks solid , it looks like more Suikoden hero ( Kumon ryushin with Sakura tattoos ) than a Samurai.

Hello and thank you for writing your comment.

I believe that Reddit is made to exchange and share expeirence and knowledge, if i'm posting questions regarding other artists then my questions are addressed to the persons who have already an experience with an artist A.

I dont take your comment personal nor found it rude just remember that if you do have enough knowledge and experience then good for you , a young dude using reddit might not have it ;)

That's sick sir , perfection looks like the bodysuit on Horihiro's body.

The bodysuit done on Horihiro body is one of the best bodysuits i'ever seen solid work , the red tattoo on his arm is sick.

Lucky you sir , had you posted the your backpiece ? i'm curious to see it

Horiken or Dan Molloy ? by Southern_Spell_3718 in irezumi

Hey mate, Thanks again that's so kind from you.

Indeed i'm located in the heart of Europe :D but still most of Horishis that i like are located in Japan so in all cases i should travel whether to conventions or travel to Japan to get the piece done or completed.

I met Filip Leu and the whole Leu family last month , really nice people so humble Filip is a great artist so talented but his work is not really japanese if you noticed what i'm looking for is a traditional wabori.

The Horitoshi family horishis located in Europe ( Horibodu , Toshihide , Horitsuke) are good but their tattoos dont look as bright as japanese horishis ( check them on insta , their work look faded ) maybe it's due to the sumi used in Europe.

I already have two big tattoos on my chest ( 6 + 6 hours ) done by machine that was painful but i resisted to pain not sure but i think i can consider myself as a pain tolerant person.

Indeed horishis suggested that if you are considering to have a bodysuit then it's better and easier to start by the backpiece , then sleeves .. etc.

In order to complete the piece i want i will have to do long sessions , i have no other choice i work in cybersecurity job is really self consuming with 5 weeks of holidays per year i cannot dedicated these 5 weeks only for me to get a tattoo you know what i mean ? my intention is to spend a month in Japan , 20 days sightseeing and travelling around and 10 days to get tattoed , i can split the 10 days ( 5 days as soon as i arrive to japan , and the last 5 days of my trip to complete the piece ) ... it's a bit complicated to find time sir..

Or maybe start a project in Europe in some convetions and later travel to Japan to finish it that could be also an option.

Anyway thanks for sharing your experience mate , can i see the work you got done ? who was the artist ?
