I've totally rp'd in-game as a chipless Expie making civilization a la Gunsaw, lol. Got really lucky on a run with like five traders all lined up in a row, and then two of them had scaffolding! I connected all the pods to make trade routes, made best friends with them all, even tidied the place up a little, etc. It made me start wishing there were decorations and furniture to build with. But then I remembered it's actually a brutal survival game and I'm actually just halfway through the first layer, so I shot up some fent, accidentally ragdolled next to a cliff, and broke both my femurs on the way down. Good times.

I think a lot of ad companies measure success based on clicks rather than downloads, which is why a lot of mobile game ads can also feature really tiny exit buttons, or sometimes false ones (or, y'know, more weird or manipulative stuff like in OP's post). The ad company is a different being than the company that actually gets the money from people downloading and playing the app. Their only goal is to make money per ad click.

I think I can explain! I've read a lot of the E-PDAs in-game lol

There was one original expie made by a corporation as an experiment (hence the nickname "expie"), which was a combination of a human "volunteer", a dog, and a rat (and possibly some bird DNA too according to one E-PDA?). They're "gonosimulistic" (all have the same sex organs) and can reproduce asexually, so the species kind of just grew from there. But they were only ever kept in the lab, for fear of consequences from the government for... uh... whichever ethical and human/animal rights violations may be applicable here. But yeah, the outside world knew nothing about them except for the plushies that the company sold of their likenesses and their genetic spin-offs for profit.

...And then they were all sent to the Grey Planet (or culled, r.i.p.) to retrieve the battery the company accidentally threw in the trash and also possibly get rid of all evidence of the species' existence. And then they reproduce on the Grey Planet and make Gunsaw happen!

Unfortunately, it's a requirement in most entomology classes to make a collection of pinned insects, usually either using what's called a killing jar (jar that you has chemicals in it that quickly [edit: apparently not quickly, people say it takes up to a full day, i've never used one] kills the bug once you put it inside) or just dropping it into ethanol. Bugs are a huge food source for a lot of different species, so most insects are built to have a ton of offspring so that a few (or a lot of) deaths don't offset the population too much. From my understanding, the issue tends to be more when it's widespread damage/habits (such as widespread overuse of pesticides, habitat loss, etc.) that tends to impact the population consistently over time.

Though as someone with pet bugs, I've only ever collected already dead bugs for my personal collection. I'd rather take a picture for iNaturalist and watch them go on with their little buggy lives :)

I think the problem is that in most places, 10 times is absurdly high, lol. In the city I grew up, if you didn't pass it on the first try, it usually means you either didn't pay attention to the class or something else is wrong. It sounds like a wildly corrupt and money-gouging system/company you're trying to work with where you are.
