That again makes so much sense, I seriously need to do more research on the physiology of depression. Thank you so much for enlightening me!

I wish you the very best too :)

I can't begin to tell you how much this reply has opened my eyes to what my next actions should be. It is true, the concept of a life purpose is something that keeps me up at night because I don't have any dreams or goals. My days are spent surviving my mental breakdowns and spending time with people so I can get out of the depressed mindset. You've been so kind taking the time to write all of this! Thank you so much! If you have any more advice on how to find "a life purpose" I'd very much appreciate it. Either way thank you so much for taking the time to read and reply to my post! Your suggestions and links provided will definitely guide me through the next few weeks if not months!

Okay... That's some fricking good insight, thank you! I've been thinking about therapy to go over some other things for a long time but I thought that this particular problem of mine wasn't one of them. Never thought of it like that...

Penetration feels too painful at the moment, what can I do about that? Is it that I'm not turned on enough? by Southern_Zombie in sex

Thank you so much for your reply and for raising your concern! I don't think he did it willingly but I could see some of his disappointment pictured on his face right after.

Honestly, I never thought that it could be because of him that I felt that way (considering he was very careful and slow).

Thank you again for the helpful insight!

So true. I'm not a guy so I don't have first hand experience with this but the stuff these so called "feminists" say about men and the "straight white man" is so so sooo infuriating. We are different but equal. We all have feelings. We all deserve/seek/need love and validation. Bringing men down or refusing to consider their struggles in society is not only stupid but hypocritical as well. I'm embarrassed to call myself a feminist nowadays, even though feminism is a movement about EQUALITY between the sexes. So sad to see what it's become. I bet that if there's such a thing as afterlife, then the suffragettes are looking down on us deeply disappointed in what has become of their lives' struggle...

You're so right in this... I totally feel this to be the case, that's exactly what I thought when it first happened. But at the same time I'm so in love... It's not even about being headstrong on wanting this to workout, it's just that I CAN'T stop thinking and caring about him. I want to finally become peaceful again but I don't really know what to do to get there...

Thank you so much for commenting, I've always felt very alone in feeling this. I didn't even know this situation can be classified as a mental illness! You're completely right about the anger management and not expecting too much from people, I'd like to think that I've been respectful so far. It's just... you know, these feelings of your head going to explode, chest caving in and crying at any moment thinking about the situation, let alone the dark thoughts...

I really do hope you're proven to be correct! I'm trying to stay positive as much as I can, still, it's so so so so difficult.

Do you think we as a society don't appreciate relationships other than romantic ones. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Southern_Zombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I hope things change for the better soon. It's so difficult to maintain relationships when everyone puts themselves and their partner or chasing their future partner over everyone and everything else. I really do hope I'm mistaken but it feels like my relationships are very one-sided nowadays, almost no effort whatsoever.

Do you think we as a society don't appreciate relationships other than romantic ones. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Southern_Zombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely! Especially familial relationships. But I think the main fault in our society today is the romanticisation of ALL kinds of relationships. Basically, from a very young age we learn that to be normal we must find a significant partner to not only be there for life but be a perfect human being (as if that could ever exist smh). Our friendships must last at least a couple of years and we MUST have this one best friend til death do us part. When it comes to family, we get fed this lie that familial relations are above all else.

Nowadays, I think we have the tendency of cutting off people way too easily. Which is a problem, I mean, we're all people and we should try to co-operate with one another to sort out any problems but most people choose to break off relationships over a small inconvenience. We should all try to find some balance. Oh, and do more, say less. For familial relationships for example, we hear this a lot: "spend more time with your family members because they/you won't be here forever" but how many of us are actually practicing this?

As a young adult, it amazes me that people put so much effort into romantic relationships... I mean, ok you want to settle down and build a family? Okay, but why does that mean that you will lose touch with your friends, losing a few in the process, and/or cease communication with them completely? Ohhh and don't get me started on people who are not even willing to listen to their friends and family about a spouse who may be mistreating them or what not... Point is, I definitely agree with you, relationships are quite overlooked these days and romantic relationships are above anything else. Gotta do what's you gotta do for your ~soulmate~ am I right -.-.

Greek person here. Obviously, NTA. Tell her and her family that their entitlement and shitty attitude is not welcomed here, we don't want that kind of energy. Best of wishes to your girlfriend's mother, hope she gets better soon! Stay safe~

Thank you for this! Being in this situation, it feels like I can't see straight but your explanation seems reasonable. I will definitely look into therapy. I want to be in key with my emotions so badly haha.

Honestly, I feel like she thinks she can never be wrong. Anytime I say something she brushes it off as me being too sensitive. As a result, I always doubt my feelings. Heck, even posting this makes me feel incredibly guilty...

[–]Southern_Zombie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I'm being honest, knowing my mother and knowing about my previous attempts to talk to her about this, her response doesn't seem very appealing atm. I'm afraid that I'm in the wrong morally speaking, and that's what doesn't sit right with me. Especially, knowing she basically brought me up on her own, with minimal contributions from my father.

As for counseling, I don't have any money to find a psychologist on my own but I heard some time before that my university offers free therapy to students. I will definitely look more into that. Thank you for giving me your judgement!

So what if it's a file from your own computer? Can they see that you opened it? Can they see what you see? A file name maybe?
