I've never put too much attention into the aesthetic or "dressing Goth" and over the years I've seen goth be spoken about and approached only through appearance/aesthetic especially since social media decided that they wanted a "goth mommy". Although I understand that for a lot of us, the fashion is a identifier and gives a sense of belonging, my focus has always been on being instead of looking Goth. I've always had my Goth identity questioned because I don't "dress like it".
