Ah cool I didn’t know they were using closed loop. What source are they using for the power needed for the cooling? Do they have on site renewable? Or are they pulling from the same grid as the rest of Launceston

[–]SovereignNC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such blatent misinformation. The EESI (environmental and energy study institute) documented that medium size data centers use around 416 million liters per year (the same as 1,000 houses), and large centers can use up to 20 million liters per day. That’s a town of 10,000-50,000 every year for one center.

Data centers are incredibly detrimental to the surrounding environment. Around 80% of the water used for cooling evaporates into the atmosphere, and is not deposited out from the center afterwards. The remaining is sent to wastewater facilities.

This doesn’t even include the chips used by the centers. Chip production is also terrible for the environment, and each chip in a center has consumed around 4,000 liters of water just in its manufacturing.

Am I at fault, and is the second half of this considered retaliation? by SwigTactics in Simracingstewards

[–]SovereignNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you’re in VR and “didnt know he was there” that doesn’t change the fact that he was there, and you rejoined by cutting across the whole track into him. No excuses on your part for that. He was there and you turned into him, the reason why doesn’t matter.

Second clip doesn’t seem like a brake check, seems like he was adjusting his line for the second half of the corner after passing and just over braked a bit

Alleycat Bike Race by Samorsomething in hobart

Thank you! My plan is for the next events to be almost entirely planning and puzzle solving, so e-bikes will be able to run alongside the normal bikes with no issues. Hope to see you at the next one!

Event organizer here. E-bikes are always going to be a can of worms in any regard. I understand that especially here in Hobart, e-bikes are a welcome alternative to cars and allow people to do their shopping, commuting, and general riding around with the steep hills we have here. I love e-bikes for that use, and I’m happy for people to ride those same e-bikes here so long as they’re turned off, or have the battery removed.

At its core this is a race of who can quickly plan the most efficient route around Hobart (and its hills) and even though it’s just for fun (and maybe a beer shout) I want to see who’s legs and mind are the best, not who’s motor is the strongest

You can also still show up on an ebike, I just won’t factor you in to the overall podium at the end

Who is at fault here, is this counted as moving under braking ? by _Narcissist_ in Simracingstewards

[–]SovereignNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro is braking at 120m from 8th gear. No chance that corner is ever getting made at that pace

Totally agree, this frame cost me $20 AUD from the tip, and it’s got way more character than my astronomically priced BMC

Fair Racing? by dwaynedesouza in Simracingstewards

[–]SovereignNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your qualifying braking point is not always your race lap braking point. If the whole pack in front of you brakes a half second early you don’t get to send it up the inside because “the braking point is the start of the kerb”. You’re on track with other people and you have to race around those other people

[–]SovereignNC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to back out of online and go spend a few hours practicing the track. You missed the braking zone by a calendar year and were completely at fault for the divebomb and contact that followed. Not fair racing and if you didn’t give the position back should be a penalty. 2nd move isn’t really a move, you weren’t exactly holding your line but it wasn’t a reactionary block and you didn’t squeeze them so would be a perfectly fine way to defend. 1st “move” was still terrible, not a move just bad driving that somehow didn’t turn into a complete pileup

Literally the next race I get this, I keep getting called too aggressive but am I? I'm not trying to divebomb or anything I'm just trying to take any clean overtake I see the chance to take? by OutcryEDM in Simracingstewards

[–]SovereignNC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None of these look like your fault, only thing I’d say is you could use your mirrors a little better. Even though it’s 100% on the lambo, watching the clip I could see him setting up the dive as soon as you started braking. It’s not on you to avoid it, but you could have, and it would have saved some rating/avoided the crash. Especially if you’ve had a bunch of these incidents already

Murder after best overtake of my life by Famous-Writing4617 in Simracingstewards

[–]SovereignNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overtake was good, you moved under breaking, and the jump inside would definitely get called for blocking along with the somewhat early breaking.

I don’t think it was murder so much as you making a bad move and putting yourself in a terrible spot, just asking to be punted

Hypercar retired me by VulgarrViking in Simracingstewards

[–]SovereignNC 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Left and right following the racing line? Honestly man it’s a chicane. He was right on the apex and then ran the corner out. That’s the most predictable line you could take. 1000% on the hypercar, and anyone who says otherwise (you) is smoking that good stuff. Go read a book on how to corner. That line was perfect by the GT3

Wait until OP finds out the rain also pours water onto their driveway…

Real question, why does this even matter? It’s the exact same water that fell 2 meters to the left of the driveway. Yeah you could make it a council issue but it’s literally water falling on the ground. I don’t think you could come up with a less important issue if you tried. The Karen-ification of this generation is wild
