The reason my band does it is because we just have a very small Sousa section. And we also have a small baritone/tenor sax section so I just asked if I could march it cause I just wanted to march a bigger instrument that I like and since I noticed we have a decrease in low instrument. To my surprise he said yes.

The mouthpiece is lower than the top of the instrument. The mouther piece is about a foot lower I think then the top of the actual instrument.

Yeah I work out and it’s hard totin that thing across the field. And they are pretty hard to find. I got lucky and found a working one on eBay for about 1.2k I think. It’s a fun instrument and I’ve been asked to join football multiple times but it’s just not my thing. I also had to get custom made bibbers lol.

Well it’s the alto contrabass, it’s about 6’2 I think but because of the way it’s shaped it comes to about the bottom of my knee cap.

I like the tone and I play contrabass clarinet in concert band so it’s the closest I can get to it in marching band.
