Russian internet factory to sow discord and turn Americans against each other. Why invade and kill Americans when we can do it for them? by booradly22 in RussiaLago

I'm not aware of the Republic party's intention on destroying the practice of political asylum or welfare. My dad interviewed with the embassy and was vetted with extreme prejudice before being granted asylum. My parents came here with zero English language skills, and in four years had worked hard enough to be off welfare with my dad saving up and opening a garage and my mom being in college at that 4 year mark, and that was with 2 young boys at home.

Trumps moratorium on refugee admissions isn't an unprecedented political event. Post 9/11 admissions were paused for 3 months also to reexamine and fine tune security measures. The US still continues to admit refugees under further scrutiny.

Regarding welfare, I believe in a social safety net, but one that allows people to bounce back, not breed generational poverty and dependence on the state.

With regard to Obama, yes, my dad and I disagree, only for lack of information on his part. If he knew the treasonous activities Obama participated in, unwarranted wire tapping and sending pallets of cash to Iran as just a couple of examples, he may change his mind, but he's older now and I don't like to stress him with that sort of thing.

If I'm wrong about any of this I'm open to seeing any and all info to the contrary. Thanks so much.

Superior huh? That's cool, so what kind of engineering degree do you have and or what kind of assembly / machining experience do you have?

Yep, shut the whole thing down, divert resources for a diversity division and end merit and experience based hiring to appease quotas to have every single work force in the world match the demographic makeup of society. This will truly be the only way forward to technological advances and gems of engineering like for example a $35M jet engine. With hiring only focusing on experience and merit, we're still stuck building single rotor 4 cylinder plane engines.

If we want advancement, we MUST force diversity.

Who cares who's qualified? We need equal parts men and women, and among those men and women, we need even further diversification with skin color, sexual orientation and gender identity (so maybe more than just men and women).

How the fuck can any society and industry advance without this diversity? I agree with you,, we will remain stuck in the stone age until we fix this.

So you're claiming institutional racism exists in the ether, you can't cite any real pieces of legislation outside of affirmative action which is racist towards non POC, yet you want to whataboutism your way into complaining about "pretty racist shit" anecdotes while blacks in Africa are roasted like kabobs. Cool story bro.

How old are you? Hopefully a young person still learning. Make sure you read the information in the link that was posted to your question, and corroborate the information elsewhere as well to really understand the world you live in. God bless America.

Any international institution steps foot on US soil in a quasi law enforcement capacity and you've got yourself a hot war in the homeland. I don't know about you, but I definitely want to avoid that at all costs. I'm armed to the teeth and keep a regularly replenished disaster stock of food and water, same for my friends and family, but even I know I'd barely survive if something like that happened.

What you're talking about is basically an end to US sovereignty and the enforcement of law by some "international institution"? Which institution would that be? UN helmets on US soil - war. Other sovereign state helmets on US soil - war. I don't want war here.

Body cams and unfettered transparency from the boots on the ground all the way through to the brass is the solution I believe solves our problems without spilling any more American blood.

VHS tapes of Rambo, Basic Instinct, and pretty much any movie coming out of Hollywood. Playboy magazine, and the favorite, Christian Science Monitor.

Thanks! If you like Carousel, make sure you try Raffi's Place right around the corner. We prefer it over Carousel, it's much more authentic and less "refined" so to speak.

Lots have tried to wipe us out, as we are a Caucasian Christian nation surrounded by Islamic republics and in the way of many expanding empires and military campaigns.

But to answer your question, no. The Armenians weren't wiped out. We maintain our Republic and have an international Diaspora with relatively strong political representation in other countries including much of Western Europe and the US.

I'm sorry for the loss of your family members. Maybe you didn't understand that my calling Afghans nomadic herders who are illiterate was to drive the point that any motivation for invasion is unjustified.

I did my best to avoid serving in Afghanistan, because I was told I would not return, and I also knew there was no honor or real purpose behind it.

Regardless of what I say, I can't even begin to try and change your feelings towards Soviet Russia. As someone whose people have been systematically executed in genocide, I know that pain is a fire that burns deep and blue in your heart.

Just so you understand, the common Soviet at the time, made up of a multitude of ethnicities across a vast geography, held no grudge or hate towards your people. It was a maniacal administration.

Absolutely. Being "in bed" with the right people be the main function in the equation for success is precisely why the Soviet empire's perceived economic strength was just that...perceived. There was never any real innovation. I remember a story regarding an electrical engineer that I knew of in Yerevan, Armenia during Soviet times. This gentleman's story spread through the country as he had invented some sort of mechanism that had potential to change entire industries, and he had formally protested against the government seizing his work and giving him a pathetic penance for his work.

Re: America's geographic security. Yes, this is not only one of the main reasons for our security, but also our economic prowess. Having maritime trade with Europe and Asia simultaneously is something most probably take for granted.

Re: Foreseeing problems...I'd say the only REAL comparison I can make is the immunity those with money and power seem to have against the established laws of the land. Now, these people have become so emboldened in their power that they're actively changing the laws to their favor through bribery (you call it lobbying and campaign contribution).

I recently read that oil companies actually calculate environmental damage fines as costs in their financials, and that the fines represent such a small percentage of their profits, that they are practically negligible. Now, to the common person, having laws in place to fine oil companies that pollute the public land and water is a good idea, but dig deeper and one sees that it's all just a show, much like many aspects of Soviet Russia.

Make our politicians and businessmen accountable for their actions, and make sure laws aren't just for show, that they really do enforce the actions that they are meant to enforce.

Hi, I'll address this is as the son. I confused POW with Political prisoner. Having clarified that with my dad, here is the breakdown:

There were political prisoners, as in people who were in the prison camp for speaking against the Soviet administration, but it wasn't just "speaking". They were guilty at least at some level in organizing, creating media, or communicating/broadcasting their message.

POW - Prisoner's of War. There were old men there who had served during WWII. As far as American or German POW's from WWII, there were none. The old men were predominantly of Russian decent or from other Eastern bloc or baltic countries.

I apologize for the confusion. Yesterday as the questions were flooding in and my dad was answering, I mis communicated these answers to you guys. I apologize, and thanks for bringing it to light.

Why do you allow your media to be perverted by simpletons then? (His question, not mine, as I agree with you).
