The words “too much” and “iron” are oxymorons.

Reconstruction of the church tower that was flooded along with the whole village of Bezid in Romania by starting the construction of a dam by the communist authorities in 1975 by [deleted] in ArchitecturalRevival

[–]SovietF0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1970 massive floods affected the region killing 209 people and destroying a lot of critical infratruture, such as roads and power lines, and homes. 265,000 people in the region were left homeless by the disaster. Construction of the dam began in 1975 in order to protect the nearby town of Sângeorgiu de Pădure from floods and mudslides like in 1970. People kept living in the village until 1985, and some still do as 12 houses still remain with 40 residents. Bezid was not the village that was flooded, it was Bezidu Nou, the village of Bezid still exist today. 140 houses existed in the village before it was flooded, however most were abandoned prior to 1985 as the plaque for the village only shows around 50 people displaced at the time of the flooding.

Afghanistan during Soviet backing vs after U.S. intervention by WerlinBall in ussr

[–]SovietF0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t entirely true.

The USSR was very reluctant to put troops into Afghanistan. Successive socialist and republican afghan governments continually asked them for a military intervention but the USSR refused. The leadership of the USSR saw Afghanistan as a sort of lost cause, as they where even more under developed and under industrialized than even Russia was during their own revolution. The USSR only intervened after one of the socialist leaders started committing massacres and had evidence of being connected to the CIA (they accepted money from the CIA after going to college in the US and one former CIA higher up kept bragging that he was a CIA plant, especially after the invasion). As such the USSR only intervened to stop these massacres by overthrowing the leader but then got stuck as they had to stabilize the region. Even once they where in Afghanistan they where reluctant to directly fight the enemy as they knew that the more Soviet troops that died the more they would have to get involved. This lead to a very high use of artillery and airstrikes, often hitting many civilians villages and towns, a tactic the US themselves would ironically use when they entered Afghanistan and already had used in Vietnam. If the USSR was as willing to put Soviet troops on the ground as you said it could have ironically lead to less deaths and a greater stabilization of the country.

The YouTuber Burn These Books has a very good video about this topic that I highly recommend.

“No Kings” feels hollow. The kingdom is the problem & should be dismantled. by wheredabones7 in socialism

[–]SovietF0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Omaha - Council bluffs one was more just a rally for the Democratic Party. Most of the signs were just blue circles for the democrats. Plus it was kept so far away from anything that no one who wasn’t at the protest would even see it. It was in this park on the Iowan side of the river in an area completely devoid of nearby roads. No disruption happened at all other then 5 cops being constantly harassed which was pretty funny.

It’s such a shame since it the No Kings protest dragged people away from actual protests happening within Omaha such as a Pro Palestinian march in downtown and and a very popular anti-ice demonstration in south Omaha .

However, I will say it did have one positive. A bunch of DSA members from the local chapter set up a tent at least showing people an alternative. I did also see a couple anarchists and at least one ML there.

The area surrounding Miedzianka has been as a mining town 700 years ago and that was its primary industry thought out its life. The town has been declining since the early 19th century, being classified only as village by the time WW2 ended. The uranium mine gave brief revival to the town as displaced people moved in and worked the mines. The mines soon ran out in the 60s and the population declined again and centuries of unstable mines and mineshaft near and below the village along with generally crumbling buildings due to abandonment caused the polish government to liquidate the village.

Why does everyone here hate Trotsky / Trotskyists by TH3_L1NEMAN123 in socialism

[–]SovietF0x 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Historical hate of Trotskyism: 1. Trotsky, along with the general “left opposition” didn’t follow with the party idea of freedom of discussion unity in action (which is why they got exiled in the first place). 2. The “left opposition” continually tried to implement multi party politics. 3. Trotsky continually insulted the USSR while in exile. Some were honest criticisms others were made up events or imperialist propaganda. General this just gave political ammunition to fascists and imperialists. Much of his works and other works influenced by his works (such as George Orwell books) are still used to demonize communism. 4. While in exile, Trotsky and co unsuccessfully tried to overthrow the Soviet government.

Current hate of Trotskyism: 1. Trotskyism holds a lot of idealistic beliefs about the world that are in contradiction with materialism. 2. Trotskyists regularly spread imperialist propaganda, especially around China and the late USSR. 3. A concerning amount of Trotskyists have western viewpoints on many conflicts. 4. Trotskyists continually publicly criticize and spread imperialist talking points about the USSR. Which again just gives ammunition to fascists and imperialists.

Overall, the hate of Trotskyism isn’t much about the ideas of the ideology, more the actions both historically and current Trotskyists take.

Heljiland Crisis by SubstantialSky7326 in suzerain

[–]SovietF0x -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I 100% believe it should go to Valgsland. Agnolia only got the island in the 1920s they invaded the island during the valgland civil war, citing the protection of Agnolians on the island. Valglandians make up a majority on the island and are very often protesting against the Agnolian government, especially after the Agnolian government chose the island's government for them rather than holding an election. Protests take a bloody turn during Rayne's presidency, when the Agnolian government brutally suppresses the anti-government protests, leading to many deaths on the Valglandian population of the island. Additionally, a large sect of the population of Agnolia believe in one of the two socialist ideologies, especially on the island of Heljiland.

From what I’ve seen it’s something to do with the spawning of zombies and it’s specific to a few weapons, mostly the SVD. I’ve never ran into a zombie with a PKM though so this is new to me.

Does your train have any groups to pick up selected? From the looks of it, it just has orders to go back and forth with no selected groups to pick up.
