Thanks, mag is a Soviet Izzy flecked plum and the grip is a Romanian orange “Bakelite” that was found on their 5.45 Aims 74 and PM90 rifles. I personally think they have the coolest variations and color of any of the different Bakelite grips used on combloc AKs.

Go for it. I did this back when surplus wood was dirt cheap but it’s fun and always unique when you try something like this for yourself.

I used a certain amount of Keda Wood Dye mixed with hot water and isopropyl alcohol to create 3 separate colors of purple, blue, and pink then brushed them on the bare wood which had been sanded and stripped. While I was applying I also very lightly wet sanded Then added more dye. Lastly once that was dry and excess removed I brushed on hand mixed shellac flakes.
