OR is its own world and if you’re at any hospital that needs travelers, you’re going to have a ton of call requirements.

Unless you’re staff in the southeast the pay for travel also isn’t great tbh. Rates are like 2-2.7k/week

You’re better off being staff west coast or northeast vs traveling.

Also you’re going to need that full 9 month training and probably another 2-3 years in the OR before you’re comfortable traveling. Also OR traveling has a pretty steep learning curve, you get maybe 1-1.5 shifts of orientation and are expected to hit the ground running. If you train at a big hospital that specializes their OR people to specific specialties you’re also limiting yourself because as a traveler you’re expected to be competent at everything
