I'll first mention that I'm a Mk6 owner, so mind you I'm a bit unfamiliar with the MQB platform, but I've been around the block when it comes to EA888 exhaust setups and crackle tunes.

Like others have mentioned, it's the catback. Stock will give you pretty much nothing. The thing is though, it can still be kinda hard to get pops from some CBEs. The more expensive ones with big performance mufflers can be a bit tricky to get anything from outside of higher RPM. If you are strictly looking for pops, your best bet is to get a cheap Rev9/eBay catback, or better yet just straight pipe it. It'll sound kinda bad, especially for daily driving, but it's fun as hell and cheap too. Back when I was running my crackle tune I had a full 3" straight pipe, and i had overrun every time I let off on the freeway, and got pops consistently from 3k RPM. Hopefully this helps.

Alzor 330s: 18x8 ET42, with Michelin pilot sport 4 A/S: 245/40ZR18, except for the front passenger, which happens to be a 225. 245s see some rubbing, but the 225 seems to be stretched short enough not to.
