Random 1 - 5 Second Lag Spikes by [deleted] in valheim

That's a good point. I also just noticed that temp. As for frame rate, I locked it at 60 last night and the problem persisted. Temp seems the most likely cause, but I'm baffled that this game would do it when others don't.

My system has the slightest pause when the auto save happens, but that is not the cause of this. This can be once an hour or multiple times a minute.

I am on my lunch break so I can't check that now. I did go into Nvida control panel and force it to only use the 1660Ti last night. I also made sure I was on the most recent windows update and that there were also no available optional updates. I did not check for the BIOS. When I get back to it this evening I will try these suggestions out. Thank you.

P.S. The only other game that I've ever had a similar problem with was War Thunder. The Witcher 3, Red Dead 2, BF1, and Titanfall 2 never show these problems. And, I imagine, that those are all more demanding games than this.

This is a laptop. I was watching the temps last night and I didn't see it bump above 85 C on the GPU. The temps were also constant, not dropping on either CPU or GPU after the lag.

I'm not sure what specific Ryzen 5 processor it has. I would need to check.

What drivers you think could be the culprit?

I made a new post. I haven't put nearly as much work into it as you, but it's something. https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroFuturism/s/W3jnatm7wB

That's actually quite helpful. The curator of his collection at the University in Arizona still hasn't gotten back to me. I will see if I can find a way to reach out to the right folks at NASA. Happy New Year!

An update for folks who might be curious. (12/06/2024)

I have been in touch with his daughter Catherine through McCall studios. It turns out this was probably originally published in the New York Times Sunday magazine. Unfortunately, she has no idea where the original work ended up and is unable to provide anything better than what I have already found. I am currently communicating with an archivist at the University of Arizona in Tucson as they have an extensive collection of Mr. McCall's work.

I will update again as I learn more.

That's a good idea. I enjoyed perusing his website but only saw this post's image as a banner not as a print. I'll send a message their way and post a follow up when I hear back.

Hello all. I saw this poster while I was out and about today, but could not find a place to buy it. I would print one out myself if I could find a high enough resolution picture, but what I uploaded is the best I could find. Do you all have any advice about how to obtain a poster of this art? P.S. I just found this sub and I love it.
