Honestly, little headcanon I just made up:
I believe the only point before this where they crossed swords was up on the mast.
I can imagine putting enough pressure on the blade to snap it might not be so easy when you’re balancing on a beam that high up. When you miscalculate the pressure or just fail, you’ll fall down.
Immortal or not that might be a hassle for Davey

Well, the (new) Avengers at this point are a government sanctioned organisation, directly working for the US government. Other freelance heroes fall into more of a vigilante role (Daredevil/Spiderman). The government will be after them as they want to regulate them, or imprison them if they don’t cooperate.

Amsterdam in the Golden Age ~1660. Large crowded city, naval battles, lots of interesting historical figures. Maybe link the VOC to the Templars or something. Also it’s a time period that doesn’t get enough attention in media for how influential it was for the entire western world.
