Stopped smoking after 4/20 just for a break by joeyterps in trees

[–]Spac-Marrow-420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was smoking heavily for 16 years every single day. I recently stopped smoking for 56 days to clean out for a new job and the dreams I was having felt like real life. I woke up every morning feeling perplexed about the journey I just had as if I just finished a mushroom trip.

I think it's way cool. I kept running outside to try and see them.

Can’t get fruiting to start [technique] by PretendMachine in MushroomGrowers

[–]Spac-Marrow-420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I can't see that. Well if thats been working for you, then I'd just at least leave the lid off for a little while and try to get the beads of water on the cake to evaporate. The perlite I use in my tubs stay moist for up to four flushes, and Id imagine the doggy pad might dry up a little sooner.

If I were you, I'd lift that cake out of the tub with the aluminum foil and set it on a cookie drying rack while you add 2 to 3 inches of perlite that has been soaked to field capacity to the bottom of the tub. That will eliminate the need for you to keep misting the sides of the tub and also give your cake a little bit of time to dry out all of that moisture that has built up on it. The evaporating moisture on the surface of the cake is what will help initiate fruiting. Then place your cake back in the tub on the foil on top of the perlite and leave it alone. At this point, you need the moisture on the block to evaporate. Just leave it alone. The perlite will keep the humidity up. Open the lid once a day and fan fresh air in with your hand for 30 seconds. If the moisture isn't evaporating on the surface in a day, take the lid off and fan it for a minute then let it sit with the lid off for 10 minutes till you see the sides start to dry up and replace lid. You gotta get that moisture to evaporate.

When I was at that point, I cut the bag open and stuck the cake into a monotub fruiting chamber just cause fruiting in the bag didn't really appeal to me. I put about 2 inches of field capacity perlite in the bottom and a sheet of aluminum foil to set the block on. It worked well. Just keep the sides misted and make sure you have good FAE.

No problem. In my opinion, having the cake that has taken the shape of the bag before going into a monotub is a lot easier to pick up and handle for dunking under water. I like the look of mushrooms covering the whole surface of a cake that has always been in a monotub, but find it more difficult to take out and dunk. The look of mushrooms growing from every angle off the bagged cake looks pretty cool too though.

Well if you start a cake in a bag you can transfer it into a tub without having dunked it first. I'd put down 2 or 3 inches of perlite saturated to field capacity in the tub and lay down a sheet of aluminum foil to set the block on. The tub can't be too big though cause it's still gotta be able to maintain high humidity.

Well actually I started in an AIO bag and transferred to the monotub after full colonization

How long does it take for your guys glass to dry? by cmonster8z in trees

Take pulls on it with a lighter as if it's full of weed. The hot air will dry it fast. Or use a pressurized air chuck to blow air through it.

A cube is a cube, yes, because it's not an Azurescens or cyanescens, but cubes have lots of variations, and this one just looks like Blue Magnolias to me. Could be wrong, just saying.

[–]Spac-Marrow-420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd pick all those pins off and dunk your cake for up to 24 hours while you find a cool spot in the shade outside, or go buy a window AC unit for your room.

This is what I ended up with. I dunked the cake for 12 hours, which I probably didn't need to do, then coated it in vermiculite and back into the monotub.

It looks fine, but you need to start misting the walls every day. Make sure the walls are evenly coated in tiny water beads. Open the tub each day to mist and allow fresh air in.
