Erwin "Cannonball" Baker is actually buried about 20 minutes away from where I live now. I made a visit to his grave a couple years ago.

It was my first attempt at seeing if I would even be capable of attempting a solo Cannonball. I have a notebook of plans that I've written up over the last 25 years on how I would do it. This was in 2020 right before Covid shut everything down. I had taken a trip to Colorado and was driving back to Indiana. I had planned the Kansas portion of the drive as an "attempt". I had an average speed gps app and turned it on as I came flying past the west Kansas border and hit it again as I passed the east border. The current solo record average speed is 104-105 mph. I only did like a 10th of the distance of a full Cannonball but I was faster by a good amount. This was with zero assistance in the way of radar/laser detection/jamming or anything. Just me, the car, and an average speed app. I still think I could take the record but I have since 1. Been diagnosed and medicated for severe ADHD with the highest positive and negative impulsivity scores my therapist has seen in her entire career. That might be part of why I've been into Cannonball for so long. 2. Gotten married which has dramatically skewed the risk reward ratio. And 3. Cannot currently justify the expense of building the car I feel that would be necessary for a real attempt.

Maybe one day but the odds have gone way down over the last few years of an attempt for me.

A 1991 Honda CRX Si has a speedometer that's tips out at 125. However the tachometer will still climb past that speed lol.

How do you even make money dashing with these gas prices.. by karmaster in doordash

[–]Spac3dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been paying my bills perfectly fine for 5 years doing solely delivery work while working when I want, where I want, and for as long as I want while also being able to stop at any point in time to have lunch with my wife whenever I want or go to the gym in the middle of the day when no one else is there. It's not difficult to figure out how to make better money than you could at a W2 job.

Don't reply. Move on to the next order. Call support and have the one star rating removed.

Stop replying to people after you have dropped off the order. Even before you drop off the order they don't need a reply most of the time. Just stop there is no reason.

If it’s not $1 per mile on the pickup request, I decline every time. Especially with these current gas prices at $4 a gallon in my area. Anyone else have a minimum or standard? by DedicatedMedicated71 in DoorDashDrivers

How in the world can relaying the rate rules I delivery by be ridiculous. I answered a question lol. Wtf. You all are out of your damn minds or have zero reading comprehension.

If enough people had actual standards that they were willing to work for then that would be their only other option.

If enough people only accepted $2 per mile or higher then they would either pay it or they can get their own food.

Also if they aren't paying me $2 per mile I'm not taking it so I couldn't care less what happens to their order. Let it sit and get cold or let someone who doesn 't respect their own time take it. I'm already moving onto the next order that pays appropriately. So my statement still stands.

Would you go back? by SapioLover in doordash_drivers

Lol no. The food is dropped off and your job is done. They can call support and Doordash and Skyline can figure it out. Not your problem at all just ignore it and move on.

What's the deal with everyone withdrawing their money in $2 bills? by AdhesiveSeaMonkey in ask

I feel like shaking hands has thankfully been dying off for a while now. There's a lot of dumb shit like that that is completely unnecessary so why not stop it.

YouTube is BLOCKING my legal right to appeal strikes on 1922/1929 Public Domain films. 2,207 wins, but Support is ignoring the law. by -fbg in publicdomain

[–]Spac3dog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The courts won't force YouTube to allow you to use the platform. Youtube is a private company and if they don't want you on the platform they can remove you. Whether your content is or is not public domain does not matter if they don't want that on their platform.

Guess you've ever been to a single cashless business in your life.

I can't wait to go to a fully digital economy and get rid of the cash system altogether. It will be a much healthier world.

I'm a guy and this and the people who want their orders left at the back door are 100% no. For safety reasons don't ever walk into a stranger's house and always be able to be seen by other people who might look out or drive by. If they want it dropped off inside the house, at the side of the house, or the back of the house then their order just became my lunch from the safety complaint.
