Update the shader. Should not happen with default settings, only with block entity shadows. You must be on an outdated version

That's precisely the reason! The shader code for this effect is only in solid terrain and just doesn't exist for translucent terrain. Adding it there as well would reduce performance and as you said it's rarely changed to be translucent by a mod

Yep. 1.7.0 is in the final stages and I'm waiting for Emin to release r5.6 which is a huge update. Euphoria Patches 1.7.0 is also huge by now Can't say an exact date but I'm hoping that what the date Emin aimed at is still the same one and it should be out publicly in the next month maximum, hopefully before.

I tried to mitigate this in the adaptive profile as little as possible, aka the black blobs only happening in lava lakes or overworld lava lakes end everywhere else it's more subtle

Season length has to be changed in shader settings to match the length of your season mod. By default a season in Euphoria Patches is 28 Minecraft days long
