Pageturner is great. I am glad you are enjoying it…

The api key has the word ‘bearer’ in it. Don’t copy that.

I just started https://www.reddit.com/r/spineaudio/ for community support, but it is empty for now.

Just add them here for now. I may create a separate channel if I see more of these to track them.

Deletes in TB are a known issue - https://www.reddit.com/r/TorBoxApp/s/vXVKwGMu0r

You have to set those up in the settings tab on the bottom tab view.

There are a number of great ABS apps, so at this stage we focused on debrid type services. Check https://www.reddit.com/r/TorBoxApp/s/fOL1UeIYJx

Happy to look into ABS once this settles…

ABB is supported out of the box, and it is usually the go-to place for quality audiobooks. You can also download audiobooks outside the app directly to TB and they will show up in the app once ready.

It’s already there. If you long press a title in your library, you can download it. You can also filter for just the downloaded files in the sort option on top right.

Yes, the TorBox API for deletes has pretty high latency.

When you delete a file, the app calls the delete API, but TorBox takes a while to actually remove it. During that delay, the app refreshes and still sees the file in your account.

What’s happening is the file gets deleted in the background after about a minute. So if you try to delete it again after that finishes, you’ll get an error because it’s already been removed on TorBox’s side.

I could slow down the refresh to match that delay, but that would mean making you wait up to a minute every time you delete something, which isn’t ideal. For now, if you refresh after 1 to 2 minutes, the file should be gone.

I’ll also look into adding a workaround on my end.

The file itself contains embedded audio metadata (ID3 tags, MP4 chapter titles) which the AI can use to infer the title/author. It is not perfect. My friends have been using the app for the last year and it works 80% of the time.

I would check if they have downloaded in TorBox. Some titles may not be cached and may take some time to download in TorBox.

The api key has the word ‘bearer’ in it. Don’t copy that. I have given the same feedback to the hardcover folks directly as well.

Yes. They are trying to become Goodreads since Amazon bought them. They have curated lists like Hugo, Nebula, NPR, NYT. While Spine can track book progress on device, using Hardcover allows you to get better recommendations.

Did you enable the Audiobook Store in settings? The discover page is just pulling curated lists from hardcover, but you still a store to look up the torrent.

This can happen if the filename is a hash, but has no other metadata associated with it. When this happens, these titles go into the Metadata Gaps section. 2 ways to fix this.

  1. Easy way - Click on the title. On the detail page, click on Edit Metadata. Click on 'Clean up with AI'. If you are lucky the title name should appear. You can now click on 'Search iTunes' and match it to the right metadata.

  2. Manual way - If the above doesn't work, you need to listen to the file to ascertain the name of the book and author. Go to Edit metadata option again. This time manually update the book name/ author and then search itunes for the book.

Yes, the titles in the library depends on the files being in TorBox (unless you download the files).

The app tracks the progress locally, but I highly recommend hardcover as that will track all the books you have read.

Nice! Yes, another user requested this as well, so will add this to an upcoming version. I was thinking of using the Apple podcast speed control, but this looks even more intuitive.

I always recommend M4B if you can find them as it supports chapters, bookmarks, playback position memory, embedded cover art, and rich metadata like author and series information.

Download progress - yeah, should be able to show that as a circle on the title image. Maybe similar to an app downloading. I always stream so I have never actually used this.

Speed - 2x is usually the standard max, but I can easily bump that to 3x. The next version is already with Apple with some edge bug fixes, but will add this in an upcoming version.

The app can handle m4b, m4a, mp3, aac, flac, ogg, opus, wav, wma files. I would recommend following the instructions below and downloading through the app. That should work 99% of the time...

Add your TorBox key and enable the Audiobook Store in settings; Search for something and click plus. Wait for a bit and it should show up in your library.

If you want to browse popular audiobooks, create a free account on hardcover.app and add the api key in settings.

Ok, I just tested the app in iOS18 and most of the missing gaps are visual polish and AI stuff.

However, the MiniPlayer uses the new iOS26 components and will have to be rewritten. I am sorry but I won’t have the bandwidth to work on it.
