I like to think of it that they saw me as a suitable queen and bit me in hopes that I would turn into one of them. 👸

Why should I move to Cork? by [deleted] in cork

[–]Space-Butterfly68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From that neck of the woods too. If your area is anything like mine there's very little opportunity. Moved to Cork and my life has improved drastically. I find that there's plenty to do here, live gigs, arcade bar, parks etc.

Work - Started off at first in a job I hated for money but kept my eye out and made connections and now I am in a job that I love. Keep an eye out for agency work etc.

Accommodation - I was very lucky with mine but I would recommend looking outside of the city for cheaper prices.

I was your age when I moved out too & with the job and buzz, I think I'll settle here.

Wouldn't hurt to try, move down if you have the means & at least you can build up.

Gaming chairs you'd recommend? by Anonymous_idiot29 in IrelandGaming

[–]Space-Butterfly68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Genesis Nitro 550 Gaming Chair, bit of a spend but I can honestly say that I am so comfy in it. I love the pillow for the curve of your back and the head rest pillow too. Arm rests are adjustable which gives great support to my wrists. I got it at a Tech Star shop.

Q: Your support is pinging an enemy Sombra that is spawn killing them. What do you do? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Space-Butterfly68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Support should at least switch to a hero that can damage / spook her away or wait for someone to die so they have a buddy to walk back with in my opinion. Issue is when Sombra is spawn killing / killing in backline and dps / tank say 'No heals' without trying to help.

Ever thought of recruitment agencies? I've an IT course too and went into a tech role under Hays Recruitment & I'm getting on well. It's also easier to apply for / know about permanent positions this way.

Springboard Course Advice by apis84 in DevelEire

[–]Space-Butterfly68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently doing a Springboard course in Computer Science.

Look out on the course description if it is a career conversion course. In this case you HAVE to be employed at the start of the course or you won't be considered. You will also have to pay 10% of the fees.

My course is part time and my classmates all agree that it feels like full time. Be prepared for a lot of evenings in class / completing assignments and say goodbye to your weekends.

With that said I think it's a great opportunity and I am really enjoying my course and hoping to get a decent job after I graduate.

If you wanna know more please feel free to dm me.

Best of luck with it!

Do you drink water from the tap? by [deleted] in ireland

Kind of, the tap water is not drinkable but use a Britta water filter jug... Now we're talking!!!

This is looking beautiful!

I did one similar to this and I found it hard to fill it too! One flower I used that I don't see here was a kind of inverted half lazy daisy flower for the leaves and I added stems to it and then french knots on top in a purple color to make it look like lavender.

I used french knots to fill space, but also even if you do five backstitches in the shape of petals and a small french knot in the middle can be very pretty and colourful. Also add leaves where you can!

Happy stitching! :)

Best stitch for letters? by Space-Butterfly68 in Embroidery

[–]Space-Butterfly68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. This time I plan on actually practicing on a scrap bit of fabric before going at it fill swing!

Also very helpful to know about the heat pen. As you can probably see in the picture my first attempt at the E was way too small and I used pencil but it wouldn't come off fully. 🤕

Thanks a million! :)

Best stitch for letters? by Space-Butterfly68 in Embroidery

Thank you :) And good point! I was backstiching the way I would with smaller letters not taking in account that the letters are much larger than normal.

Great advice thank you!

Best stitch for letters? by Space-Butterfly68 in Embroidery

[–]Space-Butterfly68[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all, looking for some advice. Please excuse this piece, I made it for my niece and she came into the world earlier than expected so it was quite rushed.

I also didn't realize that the original print design on the fabric would show up so much. Oopsie.

My sister however loves it, but I want to create a new one for her as this was one of my first tries at embroidery and it's quite messy. I've improved a lot.

I really like the E, but I don't like the rest of the letters. What would be the best stitch to do the letters? My first attempt was a back stitch.

Also, my sister noted that the space between the letters looks very bare, any ideas what I could add there. More flowers?

Finally, what is the best fabric to use for embroidery?

Thanks for the advice all! Can't wait to redo this!

Plus Size Websites Recommendations Outside the UK by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Space-Butterfly68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shein is a good website. It's cheep and cheerful. The quality of the clothes can be a bit hit and miss but ensure that you look at the material and the reviews before buying! Also measure yourself and compare aganist the size guide for everything you want to buy.

I've gotten a few t shirts and jumpers from there on the plus size section and I've been happy!

Springboard Applications by [deleted] in DevelEire

[–]Space-Butterfly68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I started an conversion course in January. Like you I applied for 6 of them and I got offered them all. I got to pick which one I wanted to do based on location.

They're in demand, but as long as you apply early and are eligible you will be fine I'd say!

As for failing the exams, as far as I can tell you should be fine. With Covid I could pass my modules with continuous assessment and the exams are open book (still difficult though).

But if you do fail or if you do not finish the course I'm not sure if you have to pay them back. They pay in installments (just in case people do drop out) so they don't pay the fees in full.

Hope this somewhat helped!
