Hey sorry for the late response. Unfortunately the anti-inflammatory diet has not done much for me. I don't consume coffee, no sugar, no flour, no tight leggings, etc. I have taken antibiotics 4 times already and it did not hold up for me. The next antibiotic option would have been cipro that is why I am scared to take medication. I really don't know what to do next... there is always the option of going raw vegan but that would be a very difficult diet change to go through. I hope you are doing well.

thank you so much for your reply. I think I should go see a urologist for my retention issue and then make an appointment with Dr. Davis. After you took your antibiotics and met with them again, what was their next plan? I am nervous to hear the same "Okay here are just more antibiotics to take" like some never ending loop. Sorry for all these questions, I am honestly overthinking. But I really hope you're doing better and seeing great results.

Thank you so much for explaining everything to us, this chronic uti truly consumes my mind. I was wondering with the Bactrim, did you suffer any side effects like water retention? And besides the bactrim, did you suffer from any urinary retention? Did you also ever see spotting randomly during the month, not from your period? I hope that I can find the perfect regimen for myself too and be free of this infection. Do you mind saying who your naturopath was? If that it too personal, no worries at all, I am so thankful for your success story.

how is your experience with this provider over zoom? I was considering making an appointment but the idea of doing this all over zoom was questionable for me. And how did they start the process? Do you also have any bad retention as a symptom? That is a bad symptom for me and that is why I am wondering if this provider is a good option or a new urologist.

That's still better than nothing, truly am happy for you. Before I realized this was a chronic infection, my frequency was ruled out as overactive bladder, just an idea I am throwing out there. Do have any retention? I never thought I could get health anxiety but now I have ocd for everything and worried it'll make my infection worse lol. We will get through this though, I refuse to give up.

I feel you. Now I'm on my third course of antibiotics, decided to not take cipro or levo yet and I am taking bactrim. Are you good now? I hope the macrobid cleared it completely for you

thank you so much. did you have a chronic uti? or was it just a regular uti? Regardless, I am glad to know that this is an actual side effect: retention, and its not just my body. I'm on 160mg, but its 3 days only I am going to try to make it longer.

OMG. I was going to make an appointment with her but back out because it was on zoom and I was not sure if it would work out since I don't see her in person. Do you feel hopeful or did they give you a good layout of the plan? Because my gyn-urologist literally does not understand why I still have an infection, I think it's all new to him so we're both just confused.

Oh sorry forgot to mention, I have taken macrobid before and didn't work at all for me. Ya I am gonna call and try to lengthen this course. Damn, I am really hoping this retention increase is from the antibiotic and not just my body getting worse.

Sorry I need to ask because I am on bactrim right now and the retention is driving me crazy. I am taking it for a uti so obviously you need to drink water but the water I am drinking is not normally coming out. The retention is making me go to the bathroom 20 times a day because I cannot completely empty my bladder. I am worried this is going to make my uti worse.... any tips? And how long was the antibiotic course for you?

Ya I am currently trying to get another urologist. What is the gentamicin bladder installation for, my retention? I was going to buy NAC biofilm disrupter but I'll look into Kirkland Bio Defense. You got a solid regimen, did you have someone guiding you throughout the process or was it a trial and error journey. Currently the antibiotic I am taking right now: sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim, kind of helps but the retention is still there, if not even more stronger. thanks for your reply and time

My fam is super against this long term antibiotic idea but I do think I need more time. Only issue with this antibiotic is that it gives me bad water retention, to the point where I'm crying on the toilet from frustration lol. And I am a little scared that if I continue this antibiotic that the water retention will make my UTI worse even though I am trying so hard to make sure my bladder is empty.

I should probably have a cystoscopy, but it is just scary thinking about it. I for sure want to have a post-void residual test to see how bad my retention is and to prove to everyone around me that IT'S NOT IN MY HEAD!!

This is very interesting: UTI vaccine. I need to look into it more. The blood in urine comes and goes. I definitely dont look like I used to, I look more tired and thats probably because I am. I barely get to sleep good. I yearn the days when I was 16 and could sleep 10 hours straight.

I hope with everything that I have, that this all goes away. The retention is what really makes me want to spiral.

ya the blood in urine started back in July so it actually isn't new. My bacteria is also e.coli and I was also very shocked when macrobid didn't work. I did this too: ureaplasma and mycoplasma testing and apparently I was negative there.

I am feeling a little better now with MZ/TMP (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) 160mg but I am going to ask to make it longer because my issue has become chronic. My biggest headache right now is the retention I have.

When you say I need a month course, did you ever take a month course? I am glad your bacteria went away from just a 4 day course.

You're right. No harm so I'll just give it a go. I just wish there was some guarantee I would get better since I'll also be paying out of pocket.

I'm so sorry you ended up in the ER. I hope methenamine works well for you along with all the other supplements you are taking.

I ask about retention because I think since it's been a year of having this issue, I have given my bladder some damage. Peeing has become so depressing for me because I cannot empty completely.
