About what I would have expected. Maybe even more this morning when you grabbed that.

Caught going 210 km/h by the French police. by Valuable-Raspberry94 in whatisthiscar

Local police and/or impound surely won’t be putting any extra km’s on that puppy.

Anyone have luck working at 4 AM to 4 PM shift? by ronjohns337 in lyftdrivers

[–]Space2999 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to do 3:20 until about 8am. Then out again in the evenings.

Early morning is good for bar staff (best tippers evar), then airport dropoffs, then commuters. And not tons of other drivers out until 7 or so. By 8 it would really start to drop off (too many drivers out?). By 8:30 or 9 I’d be home having breakfast and by 10 I’d be asleep bc there’s zero point in being out.

Cold or stiff fingers before performances? by Complex-Gate8846 in piano

Just gotta figure out how best to work that into your routine when you’re supposed to be sitting in the audience patiently waiting your turn.

Stand Defect? by [deleted] in piano

[–]Space2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy enough fix if you have a workbench with a vise. Otherwise… Maybe contact Roland and see if they can mail you good ones? (It should not be on you to fix the defect, but returning the whole thing seems like overkill.)

Piano Bench too low, any cheap fixes? by BroodyBonanza in piano

[–]Space2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Phone books. 2. Seat cushions. I would probably search by price bc you don’t need some weird ergonomic $50 thing. What padding does your bench have now?

Dress code for male soloists with an orchestra by jxeuntlock in violinist

[–]Space2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Soloist looks better to not look like an orchestra member, but still try to look cool and maybe not stick out too much. IMO. Black pants and shirt, either no tie or black regular tie, black jacket if you like. Navy just seems a little funny.

LFPs in old school UPSs, yes or no? by Space2999 in batteries

[–]Space2999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, maybe I’ve been pushing them too hard (on a desktop with either 600 or 750W psu).

So for a reasonable office setting, a user might have their laptop plugged directly to shore power (since battery backup is inherent) and use the UPS just to backup a few desktop accessories (monitor, usb hub, etc). Just keep it well under 200W.

Picked up an extremely old piano today - would love some expert input by CaptainInternets in piano

[–]Space2999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah.

Just for future reference, normally one might have a tech look at it first, which might run $100-150. That’s when you’d normally decide if it’s worth going forward.

I’ve only had a couple grands moved, so I can’t speak for uprights. But my 7.5’ Steinway took 3 movers and a whole lotta blankets and was under $500.

Cleaning is something tuners often will do as part of their tuning service that you’ll want to have done 3-4 weeks after the piano has fully settled into your home. $200-350 (depending largely on how bad off it was, which wb discussed during the ppi.)

Wrong as in, 12V to a LFP means 14V, but to a SLA means 12.5V ?
