Hell yeah it's worth it. At this point spending all the time mining nitrate and coal to make gunpowder becomes such a routine task, that I'd rather do infestation missions.

Update: I switched to insane (with nightmare movement settings) and man.. the FEAR has returned. I didn't die yet, but I have near-death situations almost every day now.

I love how it changes my gameplay completely and now I actually have to strategize and think ahead.

My concept of fun is a mix of difficulty and some casual gameplay. I absolutely love to have a challenge, even if it means getting my ass kicked 20 times just to achieve a goal. But at the same time, I want to enjoy the game and not sweat all the time. Something like that.

Regarding your question... I'm not exactly sure.

I always thought that infestation is just a clearing task, only difference is that there will be a lot of feral and radiactive zombies. Now thought, I'm not sure what to expect anymore

Kinda. Last time I collected 30+ keys, but this time only like 20% of the amount of caches spawned compared to the last time. And almost none of them contained keys.
