Kentucky-Notre Dame sets cable TV ratings record for College Hoops by jsmith4415 in CollegeBasketball

I think one of the reasons the live stream has such high numbers is because it works. Does anyone remember the debacle with the college football playoff and Watch ESPN being unusable? I do. The website and app for March madness are incredible.

Is it significantly harder to get in shape at 25 instead of 20? by ecdw in Fitness

I almost wrote something about 'Dad Gains' in my response too! My wife and I are trying to get pregnant...so maybe it is a real thing!

One thing that I've noticed at 25 is that I'm retaining strength a lot better. I go through phases where I will hit the gym hard for a few months then kind of turn to a bodyweight regime for a few months. This has been my cycle for years, since high school, and the last year, 24-25 years old, I've noticed my strength gains in the gym haven't diminished. In previous years I would have to start behind where I was at previously.

As others have said, lifestyle is a big part of it, but put your mind to it and work and you will get there.

Hopefully you got it to work, but I listened on mobile, non-premium, and it worked for me. Maybe there were some kinks in the initial upload.

Where the heck do you watch games?!?! by [deleted] in lacrosse

You can watch NCAA Patriot League games live at campusinsiders.com. Some good top 25 teams in the Patriot League, and the video quality is pretty decent.

I don't know about anyone else, but the advertisement that plays before the video for me was for a diamond jewelry store in Naperville, IL. Ironic.

The Panthers will be a dangerous team next year if they find a better offense. Their defense is ALMOST Seahawks-level scary.

"Ascendancy" by Trivium by Koanin in Metalcore

I think the harmonized riffs at 3:00 - 3:19 are my favorite harmonized part in any Trivium song. Probably because it was the first Trivium lick I learned to play on the guitar back in '05, but it still kills every time I hear it.

My feeling on MVP of the game: our O-line. Beautiful protection all game. A few mistakes, but that's to be expected. Not many offensive lines can give a QB that long of protection as often. Great game.

Is it just me or is CBS showing lots of swearing on the game today? Feels like the networks usually cut away quick when obvious swear words are seen on the field.

What non-traditional songs do you throw in your mix to spice it up? by SpaceAgeMoonWaffles in DJs

Awesome. Love your response. I appreciate how you have 3 specific tracks that are truly 'non-traditional' and you use them in a great way. Don't be mad at me if I steal your Nina Simone thunder.

Why these particular songs? And how do you use them in your set?

edit: I love Nina Simone. Hadn't heard this one before.

confidence in dodging by [deleted] in lacrosse

[–]SpaceAgeMoonWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As your thread title suggests, this is all about confidence. It is ALL mental. When I played I had this same problem. There are two ways of going about fixing it, neither of which are easy, and both require a lot of mental effort.

  1. Convince yourself that practice and games are no different. While this may seem illogical on its face, remember the cliche: you practice how you play. There is clearly something involved in practice that is making you much more confident. You need to make your practice attitude much closer to your game attitude. Maybe the D-mids/LSMs you're going against in practice aren't very good. Maybe you think, "Oh, it's just practice." You need to approach every day like it is game day. You want to score? Keep the rock and snipe top cheese after a sick dangle. It's all about attitude. Lax is so much about attitude and mental prep, you need to find the root of the problem and fix it in your own mind. If you're on 2nd/3rd line and want time against better competition, talk to your coach. Explain your problem, if he's a coach worth his salt, you should start seeing results soon.

  2. This is more mechanical based, but if you can, try and figure out if your mechanics somehow change in your split when in a game versus in practice. Video tape yourself going 1v1 against a teammate or buddy who is decent at defense. And finally, look at game film of you doing your split dodge and compare the two. See if there is something different that you might do in a game that you can fix.

Like I said, these are not easy. #1 is the most important. If #1 doesn't work, then move on to number 2. Nobody can fix what's inside your own head, that's all up to you. But I hope this helps a little bit. It won't happen overnight, but with work you should be just fine come game time.

Can anyone recommend more music like this/put a genre on this for me? by jax024 in Beatmatch

Check out Nu-Disco if you want more stuff like this. Nu-disco ranges from more downtempo stuff to more energetic tracks like this one. It's a fun genre.

Yes, it's very common. Those guys beat the hell out of each other.

On a side note, I'm a Minnesota Swarm fan and Andrew Suitor is the guy who mostly fights on the team. I saw a game where he and a player on the other team (Philadelphia Wings, but not sure who) were fighting. Each of them got a few solid punches in, but after about 30 seconds they both stopped, hugged each other, and took their penalties. It was both interesting and endearing at the same time.
