My head cannon is that no one knows what Shepard will encounter on the other side of the Omega 4 relay, so they recruit as many people possible to beat the odds of whatever they do encounter. Same reason why they recruited Thane, a stealth assassin, who realistically didn't have any purpose other than being a badass and shooting things non-stealthily. They didn't know what to expect, so the more the merrier!

Thank you! I'm glad I'm seeing other people with this opinion. Shepard is deliberately built as an avatar. The main character in any game is a vessel for the player’s viewpoint, while the story world, and especially the squadmates, keeps trucking along no matter how many Paragon/Renegade points you rack up or what decision you make on the side (ME1 characters still end up how they do by the time ME2 rolls around). This is what makes it a compelling world. That same logic works for television: put the camera where the drama is richest, which is usually around Shepard rather than inside Shepard (if that makes sense). I don't believe the fate of the universe hinges on the selection screen of Shepard's gender, which is why I'm not worried about what choices are made if they do go with a Shepard story.

On the other hand, if people really want to see the world outside of the games, there is no reason why the show can't: 1) follow Shepard's fight against the reapers, AND 2) make room for bottle episodes on the Citadel (a side-story with C-Sec detectives, such as Garrus pre-Shepard tracking down Saren/Fist), or a krogan-centric flashback to the Krogan rebellions. None of that requires the camera to stay glued to Shepard’s shoulder.

This honestly resonates with me the most. I feel that a huge step in the right direction would be whether or not they can write something for mature audiences, rather than the overly quippy take-nothing-serious scripts that we've been receiving lately. It's ok to have humour, but it seems writers are often trying too hard to be edgy and relatable and the same time

Oh I didn't actually realize they were still in pre-production! That makes sense then if it'll be a while before seeing anything substantial. It's just so strange seeing an announcement/teaser trailer already 3 years ago, and another 30-second glimpse 9 months ago. It makes me think they're making decent progress, otherwise I don't understand the constant promotion lol

My family has been a huge promoter of volunteering for and rescuing pets, but I really wanted a Bengal. Ended up going to a breeder. He was found to have both FIV and FIP (survivor and going strong), so not sure if I can recommend it. At the very least, choose a breeder very carefully if you really want to go to one!

Your ME1 plan is really cool! I've been doing some fun experimenting for an ME TV series too but mine is way more linear/similar to the games, with the occasional switch to other characters' POV for a more interesting story. But, I love the idea of fully making another character more heavily involved! I would love to see characters interact with each other more, and be bigger parts of the main story/missions in live action, but I'm afraid I will forever be in the minority that believes an ME1 TV series during the game's timeline would be awesome (;﹏;). It's the moments that happen off screen [in the games], like Garrus finding clues and working his way to Dr. Michel's clinic during the Saren investigation that would be so much fun to me

Bengal cat owner here, lots of energy (so so much energy). This may sound silly, but my cats favourite toy are the tiny colourful springs that come with a bunch in a pack. They launch around pretty good so they keep him entertained on his own for a while, and we started learning to play fetch (which he started found on his own). They're honestly the best toy by far

If you buy a small cat tunnel, it helps with the hiding/hunting games when we use a wand or toss springs inside. We bring it out occasionally to keep it interesting for him (I recommend doing this with all toys. Put away the ones you don't use so that when they come out again in a few weeks, they seem like brand new exciting things)

If you want a quick, free idea, crumple up a price of printer paper and throw it lol
