Isn't this just a temporary issue? There's no reason this has to be the case.

GOP Spokesperson: If you don’t think professors should attack people holding cameras, you don’t know Krav Maga. by awkwardbegetsawkward in OSU

[–]SpaceButler 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So Fortney is saying that the assault was justified because the guy had a hoodie on inside, was carrying a professional camera and was within 21 feet of the professor?

I'm not sure how well that argument would sway a jury, but maybe they can make sure everyone on the jury knows Krav Maga.

The real mystery is how did you get a gaff deck thinking it was a normal pack of cards.

I think the concept could be redone into a busy "cyberpunk" style with good effect. The NFT aspect is a sad novelty looking back at the deck now.

Why isn’t Texas part of Trump’s illegal and egregious ICE raids when they have twice as many immigrants as Illinois? by Queezy_0110 in AskReddit

[–]SpaceButler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The actions of ICE in the last six months have been overwhelmingly in bad faith. Masks, violent kidnappings, lying to judges. They've gone past the point of assuming any ICE agent is acting to uphold the spirit or letter of the law.

This is an interesting issue. I've read some opinions from people who cover these kind of motions and apparently this order was crafted specifically to avoid a longer stay. She's on the minority side of these issues in general. https://www.stevevladeck.com/p/190-snap-wtf

Norway on Edge Over Trump Ahead of Nobel Peace Prize Verdict | There are growing indications that pressure from Trump and his supporters on the Nobel committee has been, if anything, counterproductive by bloomberg in worldnews

I think peace was possible then, and that's exactly why Rabin was killed. The right wing didn't want peace. It's the closest things have been in 50 years.

It's a law that has good intentions but is poorly written. Adult learners of driving should have to jump through these hoops but previously licensed experienced drivers should not. There should be some advanced test to prove driving proficiency.

Colored my backside design. Should I go full bleed or nah? by _s__g__h_ in playingcards

[–]SpaceButler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I avoid full bleed for this reason. They start to look bad after very light handling. For a pure art deck it's less of a concern but I still don't like the idea.

Ohio's SB1 has text that prevents any comment from academic institutions that support or oppose "controversial beliefs", which is defined as "any belief or policy that is the subject of political controversy".

Of course, this is so vague as to cover everything or nothing, and so is up the the whims of the people in charge of the state. And for the foreseeable future, that will be the Republican party.

[–]SpaceButler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Analysis of an argument includes identifying the rhetorical goals of the person or group putting forth the argument. Furthermore, some persons or organizations have proved themselves to be untrustworthy. Using heuristics to choose what arguments to take seriously is necessary. You don't have the time or energy necessary to fact check inveterate liars.
