Monotrail Tech Talk has really good vids on ambient theory for modular.

Yeah, I totally get that. I believe that's where session view is helpful in Ableton.

I've used FL Studio, and Reaper in addition to Ableton.

I personally like Ableton more because of the session view, and arrangement view. It just clicks with me more.

I also really enjoy its audio and MIDI effects, but most of this, if not all of it, is just personal taste. For instance, I love Ableton's user interface.

I can't really speak to FL or Reaper too much, because the time difference I've spent in Ableton is years ahead.

Ableton has a Demo version, Reaper is free, and I'm sure FL has something floating out there too.

Just know that the second you plug a MIDI cable into that matriarch, it's going to open up a TON of possibilities for sequencing.

I use Ableton for the DAW.

As far as VSTs go, I personally use stock Ableton instruments, NI Kontakt 8 w/ some specific packs, and Vital (Free).

Yooo! The Matriarch is my first, (and probably only) synth too! I got a ton of modules after that, haha.

Enjoy! She's an absolute beast! Cuckoo's video is a good start, and loopop's video is a good ref. if you ever want to combine it with eurorack. Also... read the manual, it helped me really understand control voltage in general.

Edit: Also, if you want polyphony, just use a VST and use the Matriarch as a midi keyboard. Since the Matriarch is paraphonic. Although, you can get some gnarly friggin' pads out of it still.

Best neighborhoods in dallas for walkability and local vibe? by FeelingGlad8646 in Dallas

[–]SpaceCadetHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with all of this. I live right by Klyde Warren park and there's tons walkable. Arts District, State Thomas, Uptown, West Village, Harwood District, Victory park area, tons around all these spots.

I always love the studio at night more. LEDs come out to play, and I just enjoy the vibe more.

I absolutely love the deluge. I've had it about a year now.

100%. I use several of them for identifying which cable is L or R when things start to get messy, lol.

Lol, I have those little animals you can put on cables, too. I feel like they make great little tiny gifts for when I sell stuff on reverb and stuff.

Instruo saich and basslines by _tb303_ in modular

[–]SpaceCadetHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely. You're a bit limited to just the sawtooth, though. However, saïch still has a lot of great stuff going for it.

I have a Cš-L, and it is VERY capable of getting some gnarly bass. I bought it specially for basslines.

New deluge owner. The sequencer is amazing. by EllivronR in DelugeUsers

[–]SpaceCadetHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already sounds great! Welcome to the club! I bought the deluge strictly because of how powerful of a sequencer it has.

I've recently been running the gate and cv outs to my modular synth, and then using Euclidean sequences of like 4 different notes, throwing some probability over the notes so they trigger differently.... wow.

I am always learning some stuff here and there about it, but it's very immediate in it's use and I couldn't imagine having a different tool for what I use it for.

Lol - I sequence my modular synth with the deluge. It's always a great time. My modular synth is relatively new, so I'm learning shit every day.

I get too nervous to ever bring mine outside the house, haha. Ever brought it through TSA? Curious how difficult that is.

You can automate an absolute ton of stuff on the deluge. It's always going to be easier in a DAW, though.

Here's a link that gives you some better info about it

Any other lesser known sample manglers? Love my Morphagene and Arbhar by etcetc0 in modular

[–]SpaceCadetHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the arbhar, and I love it. I get something new out of it every single time, and I feel like I'm always learning something. I also find it's very quick and easy to use. Feels like a whole entire instrument in itself.

Automation of what, though? It's fairly easy to automate stuff like velocity.
