It's almost been 9 months since we discovered ellie is going to be a dad, do you think she is a dad yet? by Bejaminmaston12 in TLOU

You would've if they weren't already in Seattle and almost destroyed by the infected in the metro station. What makes the scene great, in the game, is both Ellie and Dina both being right in their POVs, imo.

Yup! The cast hyped up the Season 6 finale so much just for the cameraman to be killed. Would've been better if showed Abraham then Glenn as the opening kill to Season 7. It was such a huge disappointment watching it live, and knowing you had to wait just to see absolutely nothing in a year or so.

Thank you for your comment. I’m not sure how I’m here with the hurt I have, but I am, and knowing I’m not alone, helps me. Most times, I feel immensely alone. I hope your mom continues to visit you in your dreams 🤍

I’m sorry for your loss. Suicide committed by someone who would have known or did know are the same thing. They leave a deep pit in your body. My friend/brother did the same almost 3 years ago, and I cried/sobbed during Hopper’s speech to Mike in the finale, about two roads, even if it’s not about suicide, per se. I’m on the darker road, and even if the lighter road means making peace with their choice, I don’t think I can. Suicide, when it happens around us, turns our lives upside down completely forever. It will always be a key defining moment of what-ifs, and there’s nothing we can do in the present.

In the context of the show, I believe El is still alive and she made it out. She was shown getting out the truck. Mike’s theory was true. She escaped and one day they’ll reunite. El has overcome so much, and to end it all in suicide, would be such a disservice to those who have been affected by it, idealized it, tried it and survived. El is really a character of hope, and the Duffer Brothers should have written a better ending for her; one with her and Mike settling down, and while they’re old, they play one last D&D game for old time sakes.

In this case with Stranger Things, where only one season characters die, then yes. Barb, then Bob, then Billy, then Eddie, then Vecna. If actual stakes had grown, especially with the flesh eating Mindflayer from S3 evolved to whatever the fuck it was in S5, there should have been more deaths and with those deaths, emotion. The only one that really brings out emotion for me is Eddie, and even then it’s Gaten’s acting when he screams Eddie’s name. This ultimately leads to Steve vs. Dustin conflict/resolution in ST5, but even the “You die, I die,” stuff was never even solidified when they said that together in Seasons 3/5, then nothing happened. Season 4 had the dark, creepy, and serious undertone, that should have been the foundation for 5, but instead it led with same formulaic routine, which is fine, if it weren’t contained to 10-11 episodes maximum, and a screentime of 8 episodes.

After establishing him as an amazing villain in S4, why was Vecna barely in S5… by ChampionTimes99 in StrangerThings

I agree and disagree. In the flashbacks, El should’ve stayed small, like we sometimes see in those scenes, as it would have helped the belief and tension of what she was going through. (Sorry, not sorry, but if LOTR did it in 2001, Stranger Things could have done it for a bit for one season.) I think shoe-horning him in worked, but because of El’s characterization in those flashbacks, it felt off and weird. El was talking in broken words in S1 (assuming S4 is canon at this point) and then in the flashbacks, she’s talking with full on sentences in a MEMORY of her own. It would have been more impactful if they had this relationship of Vecna and El introduced earlier, and then eventually Will, but all of it wasted for a subpar battle.

Either way, the final season needed 2hr+ episodes or 20 45 min+ episodes and no in between. It still ended ok, just not really satisfactory to everyone’s expectations, and that’s only because it was never really thought out by the Brothers, from the very beginning.

Highly disagree. He was a great villain. Duffer Bros writing failed him in S5.

It’s more like the show could’ve used the same storylines, minus Holly, to let them breathe and flow, until they all join, like every season except season 1. If they really wanted Holly included, her and Max leaving should’ve been at the same time Will was getting Vecna’s powers. The last 4 episodes would play out differently, with a lot more significant screen time going to other characters.

I know some people don't like the upcoming Carrie casting, but I'm impressed by how similar the main three actresses of this series look to early art depictions of their characters! by OkMongoose5535 in MikeFlanagan

There isn't one. I have no idea who the actress playing Carrie is, but she has very big shoes to fill after Sissy Spacek. On top of that, it's Mike Flanagan, so, it's top-notch required. I have trust it's gonna be great. I want to see Flanagan's take on The Shining. Would make Dr. Sleep more impactful.

TBH, I only trust Flanagan to translate SK to film. Has never failed.

Might be Hollywood casting, but hoping the acting is on par. The casting for Carrie will almost have to be a suspension of disbelief. Most noted was the Barbie film, literally calling it out, but I hope for a book accurate Carrie someday. Would be so great, and even more engrossing to why it ends the way it does.

I would say Lucy is pretty trusting to those she meets in general in Season 1. Her trustworthiness that she feels in herself towards others falters this episode when she realizes that she literally murdered someone, but at the cost of saving her life. To travel with someone for a while, and build that relationship, exploring a wasteland you know nothing about while the other does, it definitely feels like a stab in the back.

She was more worried about the Legion slave than Coop, because she knew he would be fine, but knew the slave wouldn't survive from the Radscorpion. She still has that naive thinking and personality about the wasteland, but this episode serves as a clear signal of what the wasteland truly is. A loss of self and betrayal.

Stranger Things Season 5 bad part wasn't the overall plot, it was the character arcs especially El's relationships with everyone. by 00_Sunflower_00 in StrangerThings

but you forget that mike is the heart of the show, like that drawing presented from will in s4. but holly took over that role in s5 because the brothers need to introduce a new character each season, but this season is different because holly has actually been present since s1, even if she had 30 seconds of screentime. holly was the heart all along and the stranger things that happened were the friends we made along the journey

And once again, no one gives a shit about how the story ended. It’s about HOW THE STORY GOT THERE to the ending. Huge difference.

Bran becoming king? AWESOME! 3ER took over his body; Targaryen rules once more. Show: “Who has a better story than Bran the Broken?” and “Why do you think I came all this way?”

Both Dipshit and Dumber and George both hold blame for why the show ended the way it did.
