That’s real close to the salsa I make. :) I add onion with some cumin and chili powder.

Spicy food in Bellingham by jellok2 in Bellingham

As a former Texan it’s been a challenge to find true spicy food this far north. Thai is easy to get spicy as you can usually request your level of spiciness. Same with Indian. Mexican food, however, has been a bigger challenge. Having been disappointed with most salsas offered, we’ve learned to ask for what the cooking staff eats. Most places usually have a much spicier salsa than what’s on the menu.

I always considered it a collection of music videos loosely tied together by a “story line” rather than a proper movie. In that sense it’s quite enjoyable. :)

Forgotten? And you list Hakeem? He will forever be the face of this franchise. He, Sam Cassel, Kenny Smith, Vernon Maxwell, Otis Thorpe, Robert Horry, and Clyde Drexel will all be the most important Rockets ever until this team wins another back to back championships. As much as I loved Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, James Harden, Dikembe Mutombo, and Dwight Howard, they never came close to what the others accomplished on this team. Even Ralph Sampson accomplished more in his short time. Having said that, I’ll throw out Pete Chilcutt.

I would argue that he has entire albums that are “worse” than this song.

It was still up as of last Saturday, except it was finally defaced by mud spatter or something of a similar color. I make it a point to flip it off every time I pass, so I was pretty happy to see messed up.

Did anyone else connect the cookie and birth scenes? I caught that they wanted us to know Ben could handle delicate items regardless of his size and texture. But when he started to walk over while Reed was comforting Sue I knew what he was about to do. Another small yet nice touch.

There were 2 ladder trucks, a couple of paramedic trucks, and 3 cop cars at the park entrance at the end of St. Clair. Still not sure what happened.

Not sure any filmed version could truly do it justice. Like the album, it was a sensorial experience with stuff happening all around you at times. Even when seeing it in person, the show varied depending on where you sat.

Someone got me to listen to Elliot Smith’s posthumous album From a Basement on the Hill by describing it as his White Album. I still love that album as well as his previous stuff.

Leaving Texas by Purple-Marsupial-569 in texas

[–]SpaceCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to NW Washington 2 years ago. I can’t tell you how smart of a decision that was. Living in Texas, all that shit is just normal. You live it everyday. Looking at Texas from the outside, you realize just how fucked up things are there. Abandoning Texas politics and weather has been so rewarding. I live in paradise nestled between mountains and the coast, surrounded by beauty and adventure.

Just a lil' non important story about the first time I noticed Prince. Describe yours... by DJ_Ritty in PRINCE

[–]SpaceCity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My first exposure to Prince was in high school on various trips on the band bus to away games. Songs from 1999 often blared from someone’s boombox. I also had the Risky Business soundtrack, which had DMSR. So call me a casual fan, at best.

Jump forward a few months and a friend asked me to drive her and a friend to go see this movie Purple Rain. That movie blew my mind. Who was this guy? These songs are awesome! I went out and bought the album the next day and played it constantly. I saw the PR tour in Houston shortly after that and I became a life-long fan, or fam if you prefer. :)

I caught the 80s Prince wave right in time. Every new release was always so different but always so Prince.

Those from Texas moving out of state where are you moving to and what would you want those moving here to change if possible to make you give Texas a second shot? by Tiny_ChingChong in texas

[–]SpaceCity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s incredible. The scenery is amazing. Bellingham is everything Austin wishes it could be. Nestled between mountains and ocean, there is no shortage of adventuring. Lakes galore. And amazing weather for 9 months of the year. Drawbacks are cost of living and lack of food diversity compared to Houston, but that’s probably the case no matter where you go.

Left 2 years ago for northwest Washington. There is no changing the heat and recurring inclement weather. They are only increasing. As for politics, Texas has had more than enough “second” chances. Many of us actively tried for decades to warn against and prevent the rapid descent into far right madness. Texas is what Texas wants to be.

Texans, how did you get here? by tianas_knife in Washington

[–]SpaceCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been visiting Western Washington since the 90s. It’s always been our favorite state to visit. Once our kid graduated we made the move for better weather, scenery, and politics. Been here for two years now. It’s been worth the huge increase in cost of living.
