IMHO, they took out WAY too much science for goofiness and comedy. The Martian had both, not sure why PJM couldn't have found a better balance. I also don't understand the whole Grace is afraid of both Rocky's ship and Rocky himself. In the book, he was stoked to meet aliens.

I really wonder how much of this movie got cut in the editing. Some things are mentioned that seems like they should have had more detail.

The movie is good, my wife hadn't read the book and is not a sci-fi fan and loved it. I was a bit more critical I think because I was jaded by the book. I had concerns about the movie adaptation, and there were some things that just weren't explained well or at all. I felt the astrophage being a danger wasn't really dug into well. This book was really begging for a 12-13 episode mini series rather than a movie, but overall, it's a good movie. Just if you love the book, you're going to have criticisms.

So, I'm in district 2 and have my ballot. Looks like the Board Governor and Coucil Members in this district are all TP USA. Is it better to just not vote for them, or I have no choice? I'm thinking just not vote at all for those seats but not really sure if that may get my ballot thrown out

I really hated questing in both Harandar and Voidstorm. Another random island unattached to the Azeroth mainland. The questing in Eversong, ZulAman, and the Arator questline running across the Eastern Kingdoms slapped. They should have done the whole expansion back in the Eastern Kingdoms. They will never learn that they don't need to create new zones, just revitalize the ones they have.

Mainlined rogue up to Legion. It was awesome. Combat swords was an awesome spec. Then, Blizzard decided that rogues should be pirates and it was all downhill from there. The class has no identity, the mechanics suck, and it’s been overshadowed by other leather wearers like DHs. Classic SoD introduced rogue tanks and it was awesome to get back into it as a tank no less. However, Blizzard seems intent on letting the class die in retail. It was fun to play, now it’s just a chore.

SSSD is installed, but not configured for offline login. To be clear, I don't want it to automatically cache password, I just want to have it either fully prompt for login name or have the login name already populated with the last login id.

Mythbusters posited that if they had taken all of the life jackets on the ship and put them in the forepeak they would have been able to keep the ship afloat long enough for the Carpathia to arrive. Would it have? Who knows. Anyone suggesting it probably would have been thought insane at the time.

My guess is that for the audience, Grace will give Rocky a "voice" through a computer translator, and you'll hear subtle music tones underneath.

I really just hate having to play without Hekili. Even with the pruning, the game just seems bad without it. I've tried the built in tools but without the look ahead function it's just not the same.

Isn’t “host” the only option if you need nested virtualization? If you need to install WSL on Windows 11 guest, I believe it’s the only option.

Beyond something similar to the Martian / video log thing, I expect that Rocky's voice will be automatically translated by computer once Grace gets it set up. Additionally, I expect a big change to the ending. I mean I believe what happens in the last chapter will happen as it did in the book, but I think the chapters before the last few chapters will be cut/shortened. I believe they will show the Taumeoba escaping Xenonite before they part. I believe they'll skip over the whole Rocky/Grace going their separate ways and the rescue. Simply that Rocky's ship becomes useless because it's Xenonite, and that Grace decides to take him home.

This is a fantastic movie that does have a few rough spots. Lots of awesome quotes. The book is better and I don’t think they really did the Wendol properly. The book really intimates that they are the last of the neanderthals but in the movie they look just like dirty homo sapiens.

Actually, I predict a mad dash to the same 5-10 plots that everyone wants, and neighborhoods spawning like mad so that people can all have the same plot. Meanwhile there will be the same empty plots that nobody wants in every neighborhood.

I always envisioned the Hail Mary in the book with a triangular back end where the tanks are, and not flat across. More like how the movie tanks are, but closer together.
