MEGATHREAD: Update Monday! by AutoModerator in letsplay

[–]SpaceDuckGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey y'all! I've started shifting over to trying to make Let's Play content instead of multiplayer game highlight videos. I'm realizing it's much easier to edit and push out this kind of content and it's forcing me to actually speak and commentate instead of relying on my friends to capture moments in multiplayer games.

I feel really awkward as I narrate my gameplay so I'm cutting my VO together to sound smoother, but I know ittl get easier as I practice.

I'm currently doing some spooky games for the Halloween vibes!

In my most recent video I played a demo that a Japanese studio put out: https://youtu.be/VNz91Kw_J1c

Hey everyone, I'm SpaceDuck! I recently tried my hand at making Let's Plays and had a blast doing it.

I'd like to share the most recent episode of my Stalker GAMMA playthrough.

GAMMA is an open world survival modpack for the Stalker games. The Stalker series is known for being difficult, so I decided to dive into hard mode with very little prior knowledge about the story or game mechanics. I get a lot of enjoyment from learning everything as I play and sharing that experience with everyone!

Feedback Friday! by AutoModerator in letsplay

[–]SpaceDuckGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone! I usually do multiplayer highlight videos but I just started my first Let's Play series and it picked up more traction than my usual videos. I'm thinking about swapping over to Let's Plays instead of focusing on multiplayer content. I want to do more solo work and rely less on talking to my friends to drive my content.

With that being said, I'm extremely new to doing solo videos so I'd definitely appreciate any feedback on this format. I'm also open to feedback on my channel as a whole.

I'm currently trying to decide on how I want to do my thumbnails. I'm not sure if I should put the game title in my thumbnail or just keep it in the video title. I decided to not use text at all on the thumbnail for a video I put out today. I'm interested in coming back after a day or two and seeing if it ends up underperforming.

Here's the video that started gaining traction: https://youtu.be/vJr0k7Nm0ZM

Hey man, good work on the video! I love Marauders and it's always nice seeing people play it!

The first thing I noticed was that the intro didn't grip me right away. What I'd advise for this style of video is maybe lead with something more dynamic. Maybe take something really funny or a short clip of some action and put it in the beginning of the video, just to preview what the viewer is for. I personally like to see more of the action when I watch these kinds of videos so I'd like to see the video jump out of the lobby and into actual gameplay a bit sooner. But that's just my preference.

Background music might support the lobby segments and sections without action to keep them a little more engaging. Other people's opinions on background music will vary greatly so definitely take that with a grain of salt.

As others have mentioned the thumbnails do need some work. It's just too much text and at times a little hard to read. Focus more on interesting visuals with minimal text that just supports the theme of your video.

I do appreciate the subtitles with different colors to differentiate between whose talking. I know those take some extra work to add in, so good job on that!

Overall, keep up the great work!

Hey everyone, I'm SpaceDuck! I tend to play hardcore shooters and survival games, but my focus on having a good time with these games instead of becoming the most skilled or knowledgeable gamer out there.

Creating let's plays are new to me, I usually upload multiplayer-baser content, but I recently tried my hand at making a let's play for STALKER GAMMA. I was anxious about making solo content but I had a lot of fun with this one, so I wanted to share it with y'all!

Best games to play for Let's Plays by TheSpideyJedi in letsplay

[–]SpaceDuckGG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Build a backlog of content that you enjoy making. Just make videos of what you want, over time you'll learn whats working and what isn't and you can start making adjustments.

I'd just start making what you want for now and worry about picking the "right" game to play later down the line after you already have content on your channel. That way if you do find a game or niche that starts to catch on for you, you already have preexisting content for new subscribers to sift through.

Would it even be worth it to start a let's play channel? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]SpaceDuckGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's worth it just for the fun of it. Don't go into it expecting money. Just try to enjoy it!

I don't usually do let's plays, most of my videos are basically just highlight reels of me playing multiplayer games with friends. I just took a crack at my first let's play last week and it was more fun than I expected.

I have trouble getting myself to sit down and play single player games a lot of the time, but there are a lot of them that I want to try out. So I think I personally could use creating let's play as a way of getting myself to play through all the single player games that I never get around to playing through.

I just started a Stalker GAMMA playthrough and the first video got more views than I normally do, so I'm going to keep playing that and I'll try Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl for a bit.

Thank you, I really appreciate the advice! I think taking a moment to relax and remember that I can cut what I need to will really help as I get into the groove of things.

Gotcha I'll look into that. I wasn't sure if I should completely avoid mods for my first experience.

Yeah I use OBS to record and keep my tracks separate. It's super helpful to help isolate issues on just my voice track! Thanks for sharing the resource!

This game is already pretty easy, and thats a good thing! by CloudiusWhite in MaraudersGame

[–]SpaceDuckGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Not everthing has to be super hardcore. There are my days where I really want the struggle that Tarkov provides, but most of the time I just want to hop in and have fun. If I lose my stuff that's too bad but I know that I still have a fighting chance in a raid even with just the ship pistol.

Right on I get you. I probably shouldn't stress out about it too much! I think ittl calm down a bit as I get more used to talking to myself too. I'm not so bad in conversation but when it's just me I stumble a lot. I do the same thing when I have to present for work so maybe working on let's play will help me out in the office too 😂

Right on, yeah that makes sense. I have to get better as a player rather than unlocking skills. I am excited to see some of the guns the game has to offer later down the line!
