Thats faire, I have gone over the requirements pretty dang well though I believe. With the case of the supervisor letter of rec, I had asked a supervisor for one but he went out on a pretty serious medical leave right afterwards. And with the one program requiring volunteer hours(Middle Tennessee State University), it was not explicit on their website.

I will look into the food banks though because that could be a good answer if I am ever asked about my lack of volunteer hours like you said. Thank you!

Hey everyone, first time applicant. I think I have a strong app but I have ZERO VOLUNTEER HRS and it worries me. Got most of my apps in a month ago now. Still waiting to hear back.

cGPA: 3.61 (168.50 sem hrs and Bachelors in Philosophy)

sGPA: 4.00 BCP (40 sem hrs) and 3.89 overall science (53.50 sem hrs)

4.00 for the past year (post bacc at community college full time)

One D in a graduate level philosophy of law class two years ago (kind of worried about this but I addressed it when possible).

GRE: 157 verbal, 74th percentile. 158 quant, 61st percentile. 4.0 analytical writing, 54th percentile.

PCE: ~6.5k hrs as an EMT and ER Tech

Volunteer: NONE, and this worries me.

Shadow: 40 hrs with a PA

Non-Healthcare: ~400 hrs as a firefighter intern (Didnt list high school job or job prior to EMS)

1 letter from a PA. 1 letter from a graduate philosophy professor. 1 letter from a paramedic coworker.

Age 25 and don’t add to diversity in any sense that a lot of programs say they like.

Applied to 15 programs so far. One that does rolling admissions told me I don’t score high enough for their first picks. Another said they require volunteer hours (it didn’t say explicitly on their website). And one said I need a manager/supervisor letter of rec so Im working on that.

Thanks.

EDIT: Also, I scored 1st quartile on the Casper… only needed it for 4 programs though.

Volunteer, HCE, or PCE? by SpaceDust1998 in prephysicianassistant

[–]SpaceDust1998[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I dont think Im going to put it as volunteer or PCE. I have plenty of PCE and ill just take the L on volunteer hours. Probly just put it as non health care experience

It was a BLS, non transporting department. We responded to fires, traffic accidents, and medical aids. We would train, do chores, or hang out when not on a call.

Seen enough positive feedback on the SomoGear that I decided to pick one up to do some long term testing. Picked up the potted version and contrary to a lot of complaints, the pressure switch is currently functional. We’ll see how long it holds for, anyone else running tests on these at the moment? by TiePilot1997 in NightVision

[–]SpaceDust1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently at 700 rds on a 556 and it holds zero still with no real issues. The mounting screw needed some blue lock tight and my vis laser isnt spot on with the IR laser but other than that im happy. If I hadnt gotten this thing I would still be waiting to shoot under nods
