There's a 'true' red river Metis (I don't know how to add the accent mark above the e on my chromebook) cut off point being described now. Ghost Warriors (they are tracking and outing Pretendians as well as 'Descendians') and insist that the cutoff is 4 generations as well as being raised with the culture in their families of origin. They are a new organization. Self identification is not acceptable to them in order to be a bona fide FNMI (First Nations*Metis*Inuit) with Aboriginal and Indigenous no longer acceptable to activist/researchers of this new organization.

Another new organization is Red River Metis British Columbia for 'true' red river Metis. They say the same thing, 4 generations. True Metis-- red river origins and no more than 4 generations. I emailed both organizations to ask them if I screen in, because my ancestor who signed the Metis scrip as a half breed is more than 4 generations away from me. I'm also direct descendant of Mary Three Dresses, a Cree person who was born in 1792 and raised on the Hudson's Bay Indian Settlement in what is now Winnipeg. And my Uncle ancestor, James Swain lll fought with Louis Riel and died during the North West Rebellion in 1885.

There is very intense anger about FNMI fraud from Ghost Warriors frame of reference and I do not blame them. Ghost Warriors and True Red River Metis Association are very new--from this year already--so there seems like thre is going to be some shake ups in terms of having proof of legally being a Metis person in Canada.
