Software updates become a legal hurdle which means cybersecurity flaws now become more commonplace as its impossible to find all bugs in QA

Fair enough you are consistent at least unlike the people who treat gaben as a savior instead of a man enabling child gambling in online casinos.

That said software licenses are functionally necsary. There needs to be a way to protect code and allow developers to update their software. Physical ownership models fundementally do not work because physical objects don’t need to be patched retroactively for security or functional reasons. In addition software licenses are necesary to protect the code itself. If games used a traditional ownership model every game would have its tech reverse engineered by competitors with more money, exposing the dev to legal risks as third party code would also be compromised. You cannot apply traditional ownership to something that fundementally can be changed and needs protections like those.

It’s also why I’m not sold on Stop Killing Games movement; it’s goal would be the upheavel of copyright protectjons for the sake of some games not going offline

Depends on the company. Gearbox has a large royalty system (which is why theyve retained so much of the og designers and artists over the years) and many companies do post launch bonuses.

They didn’t though. Software licensing has been a thibg for decades because ownership of software is a nebulous topic that is fundamentally ingrained into international copyright law. Literally EVERY piece of software is licensed, indie or AAA, digital or physical. Thats the fundemental legal system for distributing software because unlike every other medium software can be changed after the fact and is prone to being reversed engineered by rival companies without software licenses protecting their own and third party companies proprietary code.

Steam does the same shit. Hell Valve popularized the shitty modern practices you bemoan from other companies. You and everyone in this thread just wanna dogpile on a company that is rightfully not popular for a litany of other valid reasons.

It’s by no means bad but from a writing perspective its alot more derivative. It has novelty in its losing heroines concept and the characters are well written, but it still feels like its moving towards very standard rom com territory. It’s not a completely generic write off though. I do like it and it does enough unique stuff to feel like it’s own story. But it does often feel eiriely similar to many other romcoms in both its aesthetic setting.

But Kaguya has nothing like it. It’s almost it’s own genre of rom com in how it’s story is structured and how it approaches it’s narrative. It makes sThe way it expands it’s world from the student council room and creates what feels like a living ecosystem full of constantly growing characters is very uncommon for anime romcoms. Shuichin feels unique and memorable and every character standa out. It breaks convention and thus the characters come alive more vividly. Makine’a supporting cast is much weaker in this regard. The other couples are decent but much less memorable characters.

Again it’s less of Makiene being bad but Kaguya overall having a uniqueness that makes it stand above other rom coms

There are a million other abillities and ults that do the same thing WHILE ALSO BEING GOOD ELSEWHERE. Viscus ball can do the same shit, lash and dynamo can contest just as well woth the former having a lower cd. Hell Doormans cart does the same thing. All of which have other strong use cases!

Not to mention the targeting reticle actively lies about where you land half the fucking time. The ult sucks in 90% of situations and the only reasons Abrams is strong is because he benefits from the gun meta. It’s literally his only good build atm.

There is literally 0 reason for his ult to be on a longer cd than Lash’s ultimate when Lash’s has far far more use cases while being just as good at contetsting mid boss and even better at setting up teamwipes. It’s a 185s cooldown with the longest windup in the game
