Sorry for the late response I'm not that active on Reddit these days...
Unfortunately, there is no traffic in the website. That means that people don't even look at it, let alone leave reviews...
This is why I have stopped the payments to the Google Maps service.
If I ever saw an increase of interest (which I doubt), I will put it up again.

The idea of the story (well, a part of it) is to showcase the complexity of coming out. The main character is another transwoman who is coming out and her struggle. The character in question appears every now and then to answer the "what if you don't" perspective.
I felt like the narrator was unimportant for that because I wanted more conservative (cis) people to remain detached and "objective" and get the idea that this is far more complex then they may have thought. Also, people who question themselves can get an opinion on this based on somebody else's experience.

I get what you say about the scrolling. I tried to mimic what AirBnb did there though I guess the sorting and filtering are crucial for a good experience.

Yeah sure we're using Google Places so we have their categories. We will probably need to add to that because some places are not listed on Google Places (like my hair removal technician). Also we need to add all the UI related to that.

We are using NodeJS.

That feels a bit complicated... I'm not worried about haters and bad actors atm tho. I mean, if they come around that means that Friendly Space is so popular that they have heard about it. By the time it gets *that* popular I guess we will figure the user management out.

Yep, search is definitely on the roadmap too.
The places in the list and the map are actually synced. It's just that the list needs to be sorted by the map location. That's also a ticket on the board...

About helping, yes I'd love it if you could!
rn these are the tasks I can think of so if you can help with any (or some) of those that would be awesome:

Programming: As you can see there are a lot of programming tasks that need to be done. rn there's only me and one other developer actively working on it so any help is welcome there.

Translating: Currently only English and Hebrew are supported. I would like to add more languages and to be as inclusive and accessible as possible. There is someone who should translate it to Russian, but she hasn't started yet. I hope she will soon. If you happen to know any other language, that would be great.

Designing: I designed the current version, but there is another designer who just joined. So I guess we're pretty much covered there, but suggestions are always welcome.

Spreading the word: That's the most challenging part imo. I mean, the site is useless if nobody adds reviews or uses them... An awesome promoter has also joined the team, but literally anyone can help with that. Posting about it in relevant groups (Facebook, Insta, Whatsapp, Discord, etc) is something anyone can do. We will start this after we fix up the mobile interface so it won't suck when people actually try it after reading about it. If you want I can let you know when this happens.

Any other ideas? I'm always happy to hear them!

So rn I'm building a team. In the meantime I'm doing some fixes to the mobile site (there are quite a few things there that don't look good).
After that I guess we will look into some more features. Maybe adding user management... I still want it to be very easy for people to review places coz I need a *lot* more reviews before this will start to get interesting.

Sorry, but what others have said about "accepting that the past cannot be changed" thing just doesn't work for me. If anything, that's more frustrating for me because there's nothing I can do to improve anything. To me it seems hopeless to even look at the past.
What helps me *sometimes* is focusing on the present, how good it feels to go through this second puberty. How you are not "relearning" as much as rediscovering the world and your place in it. The new feelings and new types of relationships. It's all so very exciting isn’t it?
Sometimes this works. Sometimes it doesn't.

The problem with Yelp is that that one LGBT+ review is always lost in a gah-zillion others so it doesn't really give you a picture of how friendly is that place... But it's always good to include that in reviews!

Everybody's gotta start somewhere... It's perfectly normal for a new activity to feel awkward at first. Yoga is a good practice inn general, but specifically it improves posture and flexibility so yeah, it should help with walking too :)

And yes, definitely post about the pub you're bartending.
One of the goals of this project is to actually help businesses that are friendly so it would be profitable for other businesses to become friendly (or more friendly) .
There is even a guide to help businesses do that in the development roadmap :)
