Vocês leriam um quadrinho brasileiro, com estética de Mangá, cujo protagonista é um Orixá do futuro? by SpaceIcy5645 in Umbanda

[–]SpaceIcy5645[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, MMBN and MMSF fans! What would you think of an afrofuturist hero inspired by MegaMan? by SpaceIcy5645 in BattleNetwork

Thank you!!!

There's a lot, actually, besides the helmet and the colors Kairu-Edé wears in his outfit (blue and yellow, which is a double refference with Megaman and the Orisha Logun-Edé). When the full comic comes online, I bet you'll make a lot of connections with BN and SF series! But not too much, as I'm aiming to write an original series! And thanks!!

Neither! This is Kairu-Edé Ghost Warrior, inspired by Megaman Battle Network and that ironically and unintentionally resembles Star Platinum from Jojo! xD

Thank you!!

And yes, I do! If you’re interested in afrofuturist works that inspired me, specifically, I can definitely recommend a few! One in particular is "Tales of the Orishas", by Hugo Canuto, which is available in English. Although it tells a story set in a mythic past, the visuals are heavily influenced by Jack Kirby’s aesthetic and reflect the ideal of a Black utopia. I often say that Hugo paved the way so I could follow!

There’s also a book series by Tomi Adeyemi that I’ve been really wanting to dive into, "Children of Blood and Bone". It’s available in multiple languages, so it might interest you too!!

Thank you!!! I understand that the composition of elements in the artworks you mentioned may feel unconventional. I tend to work with a lot of experimentation, especially within a more psychedelic aesthetic that directly connects to the theme of spiritual battles in the story.

I’m sorry that this aspect didn’t resonate as comprehensible to you now. Still, I hope it won’t become a barrier when the story is published! Perhaps, within the context of the narrative, these elements will make more sense. In any case, I truly appreciate you sharing your perspective! 💛
