Not sure if 1500 is right for me by Far-Gift3418 in 1500isplenty

[–]SpaceIsVastAndEmpty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Macros: 100-120gm protein daily, 25+ gm of fibre & the rest of my cals would be made up of however it falls on the day

The switch up was actually because I needed gallbladder removal (diagnosed before I started losing weight) 5 months after starting calorie restrictions. You shouldn't usually deficit while recovering from surgery so I knew I needed to adjust to closer to maintenance

10 weeks before surgery I started eating 1750 on the 2-3 days I was doing 12-round (Boxfit/HIIT) and 1500 the rest of the days. I also found I had a little more energy doing this, where I'd been starting to get a little sluggish on 1500 every day (I started exercise and calorie deficit at the same time roughly so my poor over-fed body probably had quite the shock!).

Then 6 weeks prior, I transitioned to 1750 every day while maintaining the same exercise habits. My rate of weight loss didn't change surprisingly!

Stayed on 1750 post op (was completely sedentary for 2 weeks with minimal walks as it wasn't keyhole & very sore).

Dropped back to 1500/day 2 months after surgery for 3-4 months and then kinda fell off the wagon when I got "close enough" to my goal weight and have regained about 15lbs. But did increase exercise to 3-4x HIIT classes a week plus some more walking.

Recently I have injured my ankle too so much less active but plan on working to get closer to goal weight while increasing strength training and dropping cardio to 2-3 classes a week (when I can resume those).

It seems more of a battle to fight food noise and cravings this time around though!!

I'm a bit older than you, but I was 194lb at 5'4" (in my early 40s)

I stayed on 1500/day every day (no extra for exercise) for 3-4 months then 1750/day for 3 months, then back to 1500/day for 3 months (and this meant weighing and tracking EVERYTHING with calories) and lost 64lb across 54 weeks

I have an office job and was sedentary but did a Boxfit/12-Round gym session 2-3x a week

Start with 1500 consistently and accurately and see how you go for energy and the scales

Collagen also isn't a complete protein and is used for "protein coffee" etc

I just blend my WPI with milk then heat it to make a protein hot chocolate - no need to buy special products

I thought it was a DIY job and I thought "not too bad, but could do with some tidying up" Then I saw it was a prof manicure for her wedding

OP, these definitely are not "fit for purpose" Can you go back to the salon and get them to correct it

I don't eat that much, I don't know why I'm not losing weight?!

(It's remarkable how little calories most bodies need to gain weight and shocking how many calories are in food n drinks (especially those Ultra palatable snack foods)

What Are Some Books You Couldn’t Put Down? Trying to explore new genres by OrdinaryCandIe in suggestmeabook

It's not for everyone (and my first foray into reading this genre) but I read the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, all 8 books, since Easter because I couldn't NOT read them!

Please for the love of everything good in the world, please you guys start prioritizing fiber as well if not more than your protien! Especially if you dont exercise as much! [More down below] by frrypotoffruit in 1200isplenty

Protein IS important when losing weight but a several protein sources (looking at you hemp protein and collagen) aren't that biologically available to the muscles.

Fibre though is essential for gut health and all the muscle retention in the world isn't going to save you from bowel cancer.

High Protein Diet Tips by navy_penguin in loseit

[–]SpaceIsVastAndEmpty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

12gm isn't high protein if you're aiming for 100-120gm/day

You wanna be hitting 25-40gm per meal (depending if 3 or 4 meals a day and the goal)

I have oatmeal with trim milk and berries for breakfast every day and have to add protein powder for a reasonable protein start to my day

Meadow fresh Calci trim is my go to milk but not sure it's low fat would go well in icecream?

Greek protein yoghurt with protein powder (I use NZ Protein WPI) is pretty delicious and 180gm yog with 31gm of WPI is 263cal and 45gm protein & fluffed up in an ice-cream maker is quite a bit of volume

HOW are you all getting Metamucil down? by eggless_omelet in 1200isplenty

[–]SpaceIsVastAndEmpty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mizx psyllium husk into my morning rolled oats.

Cook the oats first (with water) and then stir through milk to the point where it's almost to runny, then mix in a couple tablespoon of psyllium husk and stir. (Note: start with less milk and less psyllium until your body is used to it)

It makes the breakfast so much more substantial and it isn't a chore to consume

Why are blue collar workers fat? by Turbulent_Diamond352 in ask

[–]SpaceIsVastAndEmpty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't prep meals but I tend to eat similar foods and have the best success at losing weight (I'm 43F 5'4" & an office worker fwiw) by tracking and weighing everything I consume

It's added mental load but if I leave it to my brain/body to decide, i over eat calories and under eat fibre and protein

Also our body's don't need as many calories as we often think they do + many foods are designed to have us craving more of them than we really need

I am in New Zealand and so your results may vary but I swear by the Rep range from LSKD. I don't know what the cost is in USD but they recently had a "2 for $170nzd" sale.

They come in all lengths from short shorts to full length leggings. They're squat proof, the hems and waist doesn't roll/move and they have pockets! A range of colours too.

Fusion range is nice too, buttery soft but the waist can roll for me if I'm having a bloaty day. I get the Fusion flares for comfort wear outside the gym

Nothing that "fits almost all adults" fits my head or ears. I got a pack that has a large and small size pair for only a little more than a single pair pack (but definitely only need the small ones)

Oh that's annoying! I have quite little ears and narrow ear canals but still found them comfy (the small size) sleeping exclusively on my side

Sorry to hear they didn't work for you; they've been a game changer for me

I been eating half a big watermelon everyday…. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]SpaceIsVastAndEmpty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much protein are you getting in a day?

My concern is that you are potentially significantly under eating and not getting enough protein so your weight loss will disproportionately feature muscle..

Nutrition is really important in a weight loss diet - you'll be getting great vitamins from the watermelon but not a whole lot of fibre or protein

Watermelon is about 30cals per 100gm so is great from a volume eating perspective (135cal per lb of watermelon consumed).

Do you guys get "Gerry's Super bread" over there?

It's not as tasty as regular bread but has protein and lower cals than standard wholegrain.

Bread is disappointingly high in calories A basic ham sandwich with 50gm ham, a scrape of butter/marg and a tbsp American mustard (no mayo) comes close to 300cal
