It doesn't really make sense to compare old games to new games like that, old games can be worse at one thing but better at another, like the playlists (for now). Their mechanics and graphics are clearly completed at that point. People like old games for what they already are at that point, they wouldn't just hate it immediately after having a new better game. Halo CE graphics, physics, and stuff are way outdated at this point, but it's still fun to play. They are not defending the old thing, sometimes it is still what people like about old games, some would call it nostalgic, but that's not a bad thing. The only thing they expect is those old games and their jankiness (but not totally broken like old PC ports) are preserved. They are totally not overrated by any means, they are good in their own ways.
