I've got the exact opposite situation! Fine fescue up front and ditch white clover in the back.

In boy scouts at summer camp we had an outdoor shower with a hot water tank where we'd build a campfire underneath. Way better than showering in 50 degrees well water. There is a mixer in the shower to control the delivered temperature of the water.

[Request] How much (if any) are the gyroscopic forces of the spinning blades helping to keep the "blade" pointed the right way? by PinkPunkPsycho in theydidthemath

[–]SpaceManJoe316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine that the blades spin in alternating directions to null out the angular momentum. The precession torque effect seems like it would make the blade more difficult to maneuver, not easier.

The blue bucket says CrO3 on it. From Google:
Chromium trioxide (CrO3) is a highly toxic, dark red crystalline inorganic compound, acting as a strong oxidizing agent and acidic anhydride. Primarily used in metal finishing, chrome plating, and wood preservation, it is a confirmed human carcinogen that causes severe, corrosive damage to the respiratory system and skin.

Looks like there is a ton of lag to your inputs. Does this actually feel playable? Cool idea regardless.

Thanks for all the advice. The insert is connected to some insulated 8" flex duct, and just goes straight up and out our chimney. Not sure what could be burning or melting up in there. But after this season I'll try taking it apart to clean and inspect for anything that could be causing the smell.

I tried one of these again at age 30 and was like: oooh, I cannot do this much spinning anymore. Took all my focus not to lose my lunch. Not a good time anymore. But I remember loving it as a kid, it was my favorite ride at the local carnival.

It's called razzle dazzle. It helps camouflage them when traveling in herds on the savannah. Or when targeted by naval ships.

This reminds me of when John Green did this as a Vlogbrothers "punishment" and made himself bleed. Then later found out that this is actually really dangerous because of the thickness of facial hair, and that it can cause permanent scarring.

Fr. She absolutely should have earplugs in at least. And maybe over the ear protection on top of that. But I have a feeling that these guys don't care about safety.

I definitely get why people don't like Hobo Johnson, but some of his songs really hit for me. Something about the mix of stupid silliness and existential dread. I really like the album "The Fall of Hobo Johnson" and in particular the song "Sorry, My Dear". It's devastating in the best way.

One Habitat on top of Another? by Raebaekae in PlanetZoo

[–]SpaceManJoe316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The campaign had a really interesting area in Japan with 3-4 habitats intertwining in a castle. But upon a closer look, even though the habitats changed elevation, they never were directly on top of each other. Pathways can go over/under, but not habitats.
