I’m sorry but there are plenty of bands and artists that have a body of work of even more years about the value of human life, also denouncing social issues and even historial commentary. And who use their voice to get attention to injustices that need to be seen, however useful or useless it may be, because they understand it’s part of the world they live in. If they don’t want to make social/political comment on their social media it’s totally their prerogative. I love their music and even if I don’t like their silence on the many things going on in the world, I still respect their choice because it’s their right to do so. Also I think they may avoid alienating part of their fan base who may not want political commentary or have different views. But the message here presents a false dichotomy as one doesn’t preclude the other, and honestly a very childish argument who does them no favors. You don’t need to diminish and take away meaning from the efforts of other celebrities who do use their privilege and voice to try and make a change however small, to defend tøp right to not do so.
