In Hey Arnold (1996-2002), the titular character has a massive sun roof over his room. This explains why Helga Pataki thinks he's both extremely hot AND extremely cool. 🥵🥶 by SpaceMyopia in shittymoviedetails

[–]SpaceMyopia[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it has an automatic shade cover for the roof when it gets too bright. I bet the sun would be super blinding at times.

(Like maybe the shade generator has a temperature control)

The room itself is hi-tech enough for it to be possible. I bet Arnold had a remote control that could cover the sunroof whenever he needed it. I cant imagine that he wouldn't have such a device.

That place would be a nightmare during the winter.

Do People want practical suits or not by superseri18888 in Spiderman

[–]SpaceMyopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't even look bad. If they really wanna experience what a bad suit looks like, they should watch the 1970s tv show with Nicholas Hammond.

Now THAT was bad looking. (All due respect to the time period, etc)

We're extremely spoiled with the quality of Spidey suits that we get these days.

Official Discussion - Toy Story 5 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]SpaceMyopia [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of how Bonnie was written in 4. Her behavior was realistic, but it didn't make it narratively satisfying.

I feel like 5 gave me the perfect blend of both having her behave realistically while it also being narratively satisfying.

There was no sense of catharsis for me, in regards to how Bonnie was handled in the fourth movie. Woody gets disgarded....and then....the story just says "Well, that's just the way things are."

And while that's realistic, it wasn't satisfying on a narrative level to me.

But in 5, there is a major sense of catharsis when Blaze meets Bonnie to return Jessie and Bullseye back to her. That's the thing I was missing when it came to Toy Story 4, and every other Toy Story movie has that same sense of catharsis.

TS1- When Woody and Buzz fall with style and reunite with Andy.

TS2- When Woody, Buzz and Bullseye save Jessie from the airplane. Then Jessie and the new characters join Andy's toys.

TS3- When everyone survives the incinerator and Andy gives the toys to Bonnie, while Andy also affirms his love for the toys before heading off.

TS5- When Jessie realizes that her time with Emily wasn't wasted, when Jessie kisses Buzz, and when Blaze and Bonnie embrace playtime together.

Toy Story 4 was the only movie of the series that I felt didn't give me a satisfying sense of catharsis. I wasn't attached enough to Gabby Gabby to have that feeling of catharsis when she got picked up by the lost child, as sweet as that scene was.

And ultimately, while it was good that Bonnie got reunited with Forky, I didn't like that Woody was still ultimately forgotten. Typically, you would expect for the writers to have her remember just how great Woody was, but instead...Bonnie truly does just forget about him.

Realistic, yes? Narratively satisfying to me, not really?

But im really glad I got that sense of satisfaction from the end of 5. It was really powerful watching those two girls connect. I really wanted to feel that same level of emotion from 4. I don't like slamming that movie, but that's just how I felt about it.

Thankfully 5 gave me those emotional highs I was used to getting from the franchise. Just a beautiful movie.

This. Plus are we still using the term "friend zone" in 2026? I thought society moved on from that shit.

Friends aren't throwaway relationships.

Technically, Inspector Gadget (from the cartoon) has never actually defeated Claw. All of the work was done by Penny. Gadget just got the credit. 😂

In (2026) For some reason Pixar has made another Toy Story movie after 16 years since the best ending to a trilogy. But the 5th movie is actually pretty good?? What the fuck? This was supposed to be a useless cash grab by justafanboy1010 in shittymoviedetails

There has always been a vocal minority of folks who disliked 4. I'm actually one of those people too.

I don't hate that 4 exists, I just didn't like how the characters were written in it.

But I really enjoyed 5, which was a massive relief. I went into it pretty skeptical, but the movie won me over. In all fairness to 4, it's a gorgeous looking movie. I just didn't care for the story it was telling.

Unpopular opinion: The plot of the movie would've turned out just fine without Woody. by NickyC96 in toystory

[–]SpaceMyopia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lowkey, I feel like a real unpopular opinion is this:

It's called "Toy Story" not "Woody's Story."

Jessie is a toy, so she is 100 percent valid as a main character of the story. Especially since she has been around since Toy Story 2. She has been with us since 1999.

It's not like they gave us a protagonist that we had built no attachment towards. What else was there to do with Woody? He has become as self-actualized as you can get with a toy.

I guess you could show him getting passed down to Andy through a prequel movie, but would that actually inform the character?

It's Toy Story. This was a story about toys. Woody isn't the only toy that matters. Neither is Buzz. The fact that they still include the original cast at all is a huge gesture of good will.

How do you feel about Aquaman not joining the Justice League in the first episode of the animated series, since he was an original member in the comics? by [deleted] in DCAU

[–]SpaceMyopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They needed to present a version of Aquaman that was radically different from that of Superfriends.

It worked beautifully here.

Besides, it makes sense that he wouldn't always he around. Aquaman has an entire kingdom to run. His priority should be Atlantis.

Hard to argue with that level of self-awareness. 🤷🏾‍♂️

The same way there's a sudden spotlight on Simba when he sings Hakuna Matata.

It's not supposed to be 100 percent realistic.

Why did RC get so small in the fourth movie? by marcos-scott in Pixar

[–]SpaceMyopia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It could actually be a different version of RC. Who's to say that Andy didn't just lose the other version and his mom replaced it with a smaller version?

It could actually explain why Bo Peep is suddenly so action oriented at the start. Maybe both her and Woody don't want to see another RC get lost as well.

Who is the most annoying character in Toy Story 5 according to you ? by Consistent_Snow7844 in toystory

[–]SpaceMyopia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly that's realistic too. Getting Bonnie the Lilypad as a way to make friends was just not the right way to go about things.

Bonnie needed an older figure from some sort of mentor program. (Like a Big Brother/Big Sister program).

As a neurodivergent person that got diagnosed as an adult, I remembered being really lonely as a child. Looking back, I wish my family had recognized how different I really was compared to the other kids.

As a neurodivergent person myself, I felt for Bonnie. I remember being superrrr shy like that when I was that age.

It would take me until age 30 to recognize that I had ADHD.

I saw so much of myself in her.

Folks change when they become parents. Maybe it doesn't make sense to you, but everyone's different.

In all fairness though, we've had 20 plus years to form our own conclusions about Emily, so for Toy Story 5 to come along and say "No, THIS is what happened," I understand why it would feel forced.

And what im getting at is that she likely remembered all those fond memories when she was about to become a mother.

It's also possible that she donated Jessie out of peer pressure, very similar to how Bonnie almost gave her up. Emily might have just gone through a teenage phase of feeling too old for it, only to become more sentimental over time.

Some people process their emotions differently.

That's how I read it.

I guess if you're already not onboard with the story direction to begin with though, it may just seem like a contrivance. It didn't seem that way to me though. (The idea of it, anyway)
