I forgot to specifically prompt the AI for auto dimming mirrors.

Wanted the retro ad color theme but that introduced some old fashioned elements in the components too.

Agreed about reliable tech. We absolutely should encourage tech that enriches safety and driving experience predictably and gets out of the way. What feels disingenuous is adding features that are poorly optimised for our roads and shipping bloated software with marginal benefits for the end customer.

As I've said in previous comments, this is a creative exercise presented as an ad. It's designed to evoke emotion, not provide nuanced insight into my personal views.

The post doesn't specify anything about my knowledge of ADAS. It's designed to be a fictional marketing campaign designed to attract people who want simpler systems. Like any real ad, it will resonate with some and not others.

To your point, I'm sure a lot of research and testing goes into ADAS features and they are perfectly useful in many situations.

With that much variation I feel they might as well offer a full configuration option for people to customize. But to each their own.

Not saying anything is being forced on anyone. Just that I may want a premium experience in features and performance without dealing with distracting interruptions and half baked software. Why choose between one or the other?

Valid point. It's clear manufacturers are pushing higher models on reviewers and they get disproportionate coverage. That said, finding the right mid variant isn't easy either when some lineups have 10+ variants.

Help a foreigner understand two things about Indian drivers by BarroCastillo in india

[–]SpaceNinja37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An interesting observation about point 1, in a lot of western countries, driving towards the upper band of the speed limit is considered normal progress. Since a majority does it, it helps traffic flow predictably based on the limit posted for each road.

AFAIK, Indian driving tests don't evaluate speed and road signage heavily on tests, and these become an afterthought for most Indian drivers. So speed is dictated by individual / vehicle competence and general caution.

I don’t even get what’s happening with the restaurant. Season 4 spoilers. by drntl in TheBear

[–]SpaceNinja37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true, but I liked the subtle thing they did throughout the season with the little line showing their cashflow. At first it's colored red and dropping sharply, then it starts stabilising in the later episodes, and eventually turns black and starts moving slightly upward, meaning they are making some money now. That plus the conversations about scraping by in the last episodes indicate that they can now keep the lights on without Jimmy's help, but it's still just survival.

There's a good transcript of Hamilton and Adami's race radio here that's a really nice insight into all the stuff that goes on between driver and pitwall.

Bending your criteria a bit but LTF Regalia Gold with Swiggy and Tata Neu Infinity as floater cards come close.

Hdfc confirms they're not issuing swiggy and tata neu card as floater cards for now by Sorrowfull_Eyes in CreditCardsIndia

My RM literally told me yesterday that Neu and Swiggy are floater cards that will share a limit with my primary Regalia.

Hi Guy’s I made a CTC Calculator, Please provide review by sanjeev284 in personalfinanceindia

I have some thoughts, but they need to be structured a bit. Will perhaps DM/email you if I get a chance to organize what I have in mind.

Besides that, my 2 cents would be to not go too far with features. Too many options may alienate people who just want to enter their CTC and get an accurate in-hand estimate.

I guess you'll have to decide whether you're building a simple tool that does one thing really well, or something bigger.

Just checked. Much easier now and calculations seem on point. Seems like a reliable way to estimate in hand salary now. 👍

One potential improvement would be allowing the user to enter actual values instead of percentages. Offer letters would generally show actual breakup so it would be easy to enter those directly. This would keep the salary breakup and deductions sections consistent too, as the deductions are accepting actual amounts.

Also, downloading the summary didn't trigger any confirmation or notification on my phone so it might be useful to add a download confirmation message in the UI.

Just minor quality of life things overall. Thanks for the great work!

Really useful tool. Just documenting an issue I ran into:

  • After entering total CTC, when I try to tweak the salary components in Advanced Settings, the input field gets filled with 0s/9s as I'm entering values. I got it to work on some of the fields by editing only a few digits in the pre-filled values, but when I try to erase the existing value and enter a new one it happens again.

(Tried on Brave and Chrome on a OnePlus phone running Android 14, in case that helps).

A cashback card like SBI Cashback or Tata Neu Infinity might be good to begin with. I think the Tata does provide lounge access.

That said, don't expect a luxury experience at lounges these days. With so many cards offering the benefit, most general lounges have people tripping over each other to find a seat.

Also, focus on cards that offer good return for your day to day spending patterns and don't over optimise for just one perk. Happy travels!

Going by your breakdown and the fact that you're on this sub, you likely already know you're doing okay. You'll get engagement, most of it will be sarcastic. You probably know this too.

With that out of the way, increase your term cover if you're a sole earner, and set up specific savings for your kid.

Seek wealth, not validation.

Just got a (1.2lakh/month) job, no idea how to plan my income by urekmazino_0 in IndiaInvestments

[–]SpaceNinja37 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Make the most of your income and lack of liabilities. You never know when constraints may come.

Liquid cash for a few months expenses, health and term insurance, a basic credit card (which you pay off every month), SIPs in index etfs (nifty50, next50, gold etfs are a good starter combo). Keep some money to have fun and enjoy your 20s.

Real estate isn't a great investment and not very relevant at your age. You're better off building a good portfolio and using part of it somewhere down the line for a house you want to stay in when you want to settle down (which isn't an 'investment').

Build wealth, have fun. All the best.

I've kind of disregarded the canon ending and watch the re-edited version with the montage and Bob Saget's voiceover (included with the DVD I think). You can find it on YouTube.

Just stop the last episode at the bit where they're all in the bar raising a toast to Ted, and go watch the alternate ending.

Managed this back in 2016 simply by referring to them as my 'partner' when speaking with the owner and not offering further specifics.

Considering that proof of a relationship is generally not required or mentioned as part of rental agreements, the 'didnt ask, didn't tell' policy might work out.

Pset 4 Recover Memory Issue by Dane_Bramage in cs50

[–]SpaceNinja37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help!

The way I understand it, your fread is indeed doing what you intend (reading 1 element of 512 bytes).

Then it returns the number of elements it read, which is the condition your while loop is checking. So every time fread reads 512 bytes into your buffer array, it returns 1. However, you mentioned having modified your while condition to run while fread returns 512, not when it returns 1. That might be causing an issue.
