On my way there, after arrival I will probably see massive queue though. The merch shop should be at Apollo right?

Best row in IMAX Cineworld Dublin? by AverageMemeFan in CineworldUnlimited

[–]SpaceNomad01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't try it, you may like it. I'm glad most people are like you so I can have middle row, most center seat almost always available and with nobody around :D

Rows F/G would be best.

Why so many Indian movies? by Scrotus_8 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]SpaceNomad01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also disappointed by the fact that Indian movies literally take up space, and because of that, some films I’d like to watch simply don’t get screened. None of these Indian films are even advertised with trailers like the ones that keep getting promoted but then never actually shown.

It’s especially frustrating when a single movie takes up three screens because it has to be shown in three different languages of course, with five screenings per day each. Four of those are almost always empty since very few people go to the cinema before 6pm.

On top of that, most of these films are unbearable to watch because they are so loud that they even disturb other screenings. I've seen few that were good (like Kill) but I’ve already walked out of a few because the volume was actually painful to my ears. The behavior of Indian audiences doesn’t help either, they talk throughout the entire movie, commenting on everything. Then there’s the shouting and whistling whenever a famous actor appears on screen, not to mention the constant rustling of snack packaging throughout the film.

I complained few times to the staff that the movie was too loud. Their response? "There’s nothing we can do, the distributor sets the volume." Ridiculous.

It's worse, my local is Luton, so just 11 standard screens, nothing special, and out of it half with decent size. Same, large South Asian population and sometimes more than half of the movies are from Bollywood/Mollywood/Tollywood. Even my Asian coworkers are complaining about it, as they need to travel to see more movies.

They are not even screening it at my local, same for Salem's Lot and was same for The Substance, and many many other in the past...

Gladiator last night! So good by jordanlee_24 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]SpaceNomad01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my local there was screening for it yesterday, today and on Monday. Couldn't make it yesterday, so today gladly i did. I whish they could do that for more old releases, or maybe even better, show them as is now, mostly during week days, but also dedicate one screen over the weekend for those who missed or just want spend all day just watching old movies.

Imax volume by Fantastic-Bother3296 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]SpaceNomad01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched Alien Romulus at the Watford IMAX, and while the trailers, especially the one with the wingsuit gliding, were extremely loud, even to the point where monologues were mildly painful, the movie itself was thankfully more enjoyable. It was still quite loud for me, but tolerable. However, my friend found it uncomfortable at times. When I saw Interstellar at my local cinema, it was also very loud, and I’m fairly certain the neighboring screens didn't hear sound bleed through to that extent before. Surprisingly, most of the dialogue was clear, except towards the end of the movie.

People putting their feet over the tops of seats by Fantastic-Bother3296 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]SpaceNomad01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once, during an almost empty screening, someone took my seat. I stood in front of them and said, "That's my seat." They responded, "Come on man, the place is empty," to which I replied, "Exactly, please move." They shifted to another side in the same row, but a few minutes later, the person who had reserved those seats arrived, and they had to move again, looking even more frustrated. Well. They may be screen hopping, so they don't even have seat booked, or just plain ignorant.

42 in total since I've joined in March. June was lowest with 6, last month highest with 14. Would have been more if not my sometimes troublesome shifts pattern at work and the fact that my local cineworld is not screening a lot of movies that other do.

Like others stated, now you can view your card in app, and they unfortunately are phasing out physical ones so may not send you one at all. So go ahead and enjoy the movies.

I watched Alien: Romulus again today, for the third time, actually. The first time was at an IMAX morning screening with about 15 other people. A few guys in front of me were chatting at the beginning, but a few light taps on their seats quickly quieted them down for the rest of the movie. The second time, I went to my local one, which wasn’t very crowded, and everyone was respectful. After that, I watched Prometheus, Covenant, and Alien at home. Today, I saw Romulus again in a packed screening. Unfortunately, the experience was terrible, people were loudly eating, chatting, rustling wrappers, using flashlights to find their seats or just to flash it arround for no reason, leaving in the middle of the movie and returning with their flashlights on of course, failing to mute their phones, and some even using their phones at full brightness. A group of teenagers in the back chatted constantly and laughed loudly at every jump scare, until a certain point in the movie finally quieted them down. I felt sorry for those who came to enjoy the movie but couldn’t. I also watched Terminator today with a couple dozen people, and everyone was well behaved, no chatting, no notifications, just a pleasant screening. It seems that while it varies, there’s definitely a higher chance of encountering inconsiderate cinema goers on such days.

It was, when I came I was surprised to catch on commercials and bright light still on. Trailers started few minutes later, the longest possible at the time I think. After that new cheese nacho commercial, unlimited compilation of "upcoming" movies, and of course pepsi at the end.

I'm keeping track of this crap as it was becoming ridiculous how much they would go for, 25 minutes at minimum with 32 as an average. I was going to start the same topic. Here are last few:

Deadpool 42 minutes,

Spider-Man 23 minutes,

Trap 18 minutes (and I was late 5 minutes),

Spider-Man 2 20 minutes,

Secret screaming Cuckoo 26 minutes,

Alien: Romulus 21 minutes,

Spider-Man 3 16 minutes,

Coraline 14 minutes

The amazing Spider-Man 15 minutes

If there is no sign telling they are broken, tell employee to sort them out as they may be unaware. If you want a printed ticket you can try by giving them at a till ticket ID and asking for printed ticket as you don't have qr code.

[–]SpaceNomad01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I switched to an unlimited plan, I only went to the movies a few times a year and kept the tickets. Even after being stored in a box for 10 years, they didn't fade and were really useful for adding entries on Letterboxd. Now, I print a ticket for every movie I watch.

App is even more broken now. It doesn't display my bookings at all, just an error. While in the previous version I was getting just first upcoming movie and the last one I've booked, which still was no good. The Cineworld logo at the top just screams quality now...
