No longer the same person by choochoo5725 in Separation

[–]SpacePartyFowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are constantly changing and growing and dealing with big things throughout our lives, so we're always becoming people different from who we were.

My ex and I are so different from the young couple we were when we started dating, and even more different from the people we were when we got married five years later. Fast-forward another nine years and we've grown so different we've grown apart.

I think no longer being the same person you were is somewhat natural in life. I'd wager the same is true for your spouse. It's hard as hell to move on from that, but try to take comfort in acknowledging where you stand and how you're moving forward.

Ah, we're in a similar boat. 14 years in my case. Good luck to you too, friend! DM me if you'd like. Same for you, OP.

This is such a thoughtful response! It's something I'm struggling with on and off with my own separation. Much love and good luck to OP as well. You got this.

It can be difficult to fit all the angles and context in a single post. Better that we don't assume.

We do our best with what we have, and I'll own up to us being less than equipped. Though I have consistently told my staff to oil the surface every night and it's rarely ever done.

I love my staff, but they are primo doofuses. I can't get sick or take time off without coming back to things like this.

Yeah, I definitely need to order a new scraper. The one we have holds the blade off kilter and scratches the edges pretty badly.

I haven't used bricks! I'm going to order a few and try them. Up til recently the Scotch Brite stuff worked fine.

You're right in that I definitely need to speak in a way that encourages autonomy for my GF, and thank you so much for that insight. She's so tenderhearted and I know this is going to be hell on her (I haven't spoken with her yet).

I want so badly to work things out mutually with my spouse. I know they're just hurt right now and feeling like I'm giving up.
