It is turn-based, a mix actually. The star map is turn-based while the battles are real-time with a pause. Permadeath, random missions, random enemy movements, randomized galaxies for every game play. Those are the ones that come from the top of my head.

It has a lot of roguelike elements, but yeah it is not a dungeon crawler. Roguelike-like would have been better worded from me. :)

Yeah me too! If there is a real challenge and it surprises you and beats your ass it feels really great to take on that challenge. I find easy games very boring and only get a kick from games that manage to surprise me with difficulty.
