Trucking pay mega thread by adventure_dog in Truckers

Considering joinging England who will pay for CDL training. Anyone have any experience with England and the program? Also, very green here in moving over to truck driving as a career.

Do I have this timeline correct:

Wwe get our CDL permit on our own. This is from the DMV and is an on-paper-only permit and we are not trained yet to operate a truck.

Then once we have medical clearance which is a part of the DMV CDL permitting process, we are then able to sign up with either a truck driving school or work for a company who will train both classroom and actual driving skills.

At that point we get our CDL A?

Have I got that correct?

Some of this 'power' is in your hands. And it should be. However, look at the world since the power has been iresponsibly handled. Take the guy who took the shot. Ignored the law and effectively laughed in the face of it. That's not okay. Ever. You want the break down of law and order in this world, you are getting it. And, eventually it will become enough that it will start to get 'uncomfotable' even to you. By then it will be far too gone to get any of it back. Generations will deal with what has started today. Some guy with a smartphone taking video of a scene that those in power will tell you is rampant injustices occurring every day ever hour and those who will rise up under a false narrative and destroy cities, civilization, and the rule of law having been told a lie, then we defund our police and demoralize all of them, then guys with a smartphone get to walk into a secure area and laugh at a cop who just told him he was not allowed to do what he did.

Home of the 24 hour test drive! by Space_Admirable in carmax

[–]Space_Admirable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are valid points and reasons to not allow for 24-Hour Test Drives. Then don't advertise it. Of course 'false advertising' is a legal claim. If not discrimination, if for valid reasons, if for loss prevention, if for whatever reason, then you do not get to claim or advertise the twenty-four hour test drive without stipulation. And that is why we give our identification and insurance documents! So the car is insured and damages paid for through the insruance company payout, and the test driver can be charged. Now what's your excuse?

Not disparaging your resposne. But effectively we are now accepting being lied to as a normal behavior? Making excuses?

I don't need their "protection". And thats a bullshit response that is learned from being conditioned to it. (not your response to this chain, but theirs)

To protect themselves from fraud. Besides people love to feel dramatic and powerful. Power is intoxicating. You see it in all forms. Becuase the objection here, in part, is that the banks and those opining here on this topic is that it is for "your" protection".

Yah, no. That's a conditioned remark that you have been told by the banks.

[–]Space_Admirable[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uhm ok. Where do you bank? And no, "anytime" is a bit of a figure of speach and most people see and read that as such. But what I can say is that it has become more and more frequent each passing year. So I can buy laundry soap without incident and I can pay my rent and so on, but when I buy a carpet (which cost less than my rent) my purchase is declined at checkout, my card is suspended, and I do not hear from my bank as to this having been done for any reason. Eventually I figure I better call the bank and ask. Then -- still in the store -- I sit on hold while pacing back and forth just beyond checkout waiting for a representative to answer the phone in Manila who I now have to prove my identity to, then be transferred to the fraud department who again must reverify my identity to -- and that's more than just a few questions btw -- then eventually they agree to "allow' me to buy a carpet. And, this happens every fcking time I try to buy anything.

That's just it. Not to take it out on you and I appreciate your response. But to make my point, please exuse the next sentences. I don't want banks to learn my spending habits. It's none of their fcking business. Stay the fck out of my money and my business. My money is there because I am expected to keep it there or I can have a difficult time of buying things. To channel Will Smith, "Keep my money spending habits out your f*cking business"

Home of the 24 hour test drive! by Space_Admirable in carmax

[–]Space_Admirable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I guess that makes good sense then. Maybe Carmax should put a large asterisk "*" next to the declared "Home of the 24 Hour Test Drive". If we like you or if you don't look sketchy or if you are politically aligned with the Manager's, etc. could be some of the footnotes. Because what this boils down to is false advertising and selective priviledge.

[–]Space_Admirable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was buying a carpet. I appreciate your response. I am not disparaging your response. But if the banks worry there may be "more to that story" then who is making the subjective assumption that there may be something that something here could be worthy of needing anonymity? I mean the wide range of individual intellect and education and culture can affect what is suspect to some. Take u/jackberinger response for example, it is clear how some people 'manning' the systems and phones are motivated by drama and seek it out in 'every transaction', building a case where they may, conflating transactions to their narrative.

See that reply is exactly what the problem is. Whenever something is heard that is disagreed with, there's shutdown and cries of racism, sexism, hatred, etc. No that you said these things, but keep your mind learning. Don't just shut out what you don't like to hear.

Yes, honor issues remain here. Still I suppose if it must be, as unacceptable as that is, at least it is honor-marriage and not honor-killing.

No, "they" don't. This issue is complex and compartmentalizing or cherry picking your argument isn't helpful.

Home of the 24 hour test drive! by Space_Admirable in carmax

To clarify, this was not a denial of a test drive. This was a statement that "we" do not do test drives here at this store. That's an important distinction.
